New Charity Watch by IWC Schaffhausen

The watch company IWC Schaffhausen for six years has been working with a charitable foundation named Laureus, which main motto is "In the Name of Good Sport." Every year, representatives of famous company choose from the collection of watches and personalize them for Laureus, and the money received from the sale donate for the benefit of the fund. In 2012, such a charity watch has become a model Portofino Chronograph.

The wrist watch has a blue dial, in which are housed chronological counters and windows of day and date (at the 3 o’clock position). The position of the 12 o’clock is a 30-minute counter and at 6 o'clock position is located a 12-hour indicator, while the small seconds hand is moved to the 9 o’clock position.

But the main feature of the Portofino Chronograph is the case back is adorned with a special engraving. On it is drawn a picture of 7-year-old Kumara Wade Parami Apsara, who was born in Sri Lanka a month before the 2004 tsunami. Picture of a girl was chosen by IWC as the best in the contest "Time to inspire." It shows four girls, rest in the meadow (one gathers the flowers, the second reading a book and two others are playing badminton), and a smiling sun that peeks out behind the clouds. Picture is framed by engraved on the periphery of the fortified with six screws case back the inscription: "LAUREUS SPORT FOR GOOD FOUNDATION & IWC", followed by the instance number of watches.

The case is made of polished stainless steel and has a diameter of 42 millimeters. Inside is set an automatic 44-hour power reserve. The buttons of the chronograph are stylized the buttons in the cab of Italian sports cars of the 1960s.

The wrist watch is available on a blue alligator strap. The charity model of Portofino Chronograph is released in series of 2500 items. The part of the received from the sale proceeds will be donated to the Laureus fund, which is engaged in the rehabilitation of children who have experienced terrible shock and severe life difficulties.
