Unique reversing watches Jaeger LeCoultre from Limited Edition Reverso "Batman Forever" were produced in the middle 1990s in connection with the production and release of the legendary film "Batman Forever," in which starred Val Kilmer as Batman. The movie was directed by Joel Schumacher. Jaeger LeCoultre watches were originally "product advertising" in the film and positioned as a personal watch Batman Val Kilmer, so that Batman logo could only be seen when Bruce Wayne turned into Batman, and "back" side of the watch turnes, revealing hidden logo of Batman.
The history of the idea of limited edition watches Jaeger LeCoultre already enrolled at a time when the film was already in production. Jaeger LeCoultre has no license agreement with Warner Bros, who were filming and distributing films, and therefore the company Jaeger LeCoultre was not allowed to profit from the sale of any instance Batman's watches. Agreement with Warner Bros. was only then that the JLC can produce watches, but not to extract financial profit from direct sales. Thus, the watch has been used for various national advertising campaigns, as well as lots for auction to raise funds for charity events in the world. In addition, 35 pieces of production, only 13 were actually distributed in the United States. Several watches were received as prizes in the national sweepstakes as part of a campaign film. Demand for these watches was incredible, and even today the company Jaeger LeCoultre receives frequent calls about the availability of this reversing limited series from both collectors and movie fans. Of course, no watches Batman were for sale from Jaeger LeCoultre, and the exact location of a series of distributed watches is unknown, although a few years ago one of the models lit up at an auction house. Only two copies of Jaeger LeCoultre watches are nowdays owned by the company. Some of them will always be in the permanent collection of the JLC, which goes on tour every year. For instance, last Christmas, these watches were on display in the Time Machine, Tourneau on 57th Street in New York, as part of a traveling exhibition called Jaeger LeCoultre: "Reverso Gran'Sport A New Art of Living." The fate of the second model, owned by Jaeger, is still shrouded in mystery. Perhaps in the future they will be auctioned to raise funds. |
