Vintage Chronograph by Jaeger-LeCoultre at the SIHH 2012
Nowadays in the watch industry it is very actual theme of the iconic models’ modern embodiment of the past. On the wave of a new trend, many companies have released modified versions of historical models, and the manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre of Le Sentier is in no exception.
In 2012 at the annual Salon Haute Horlogerie, the company has presented the Deep Sea Vintage Chronograph, which is a remake of the first diving watch of Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Deep Sea, which creation dates back to 1959 year. The new version is retained the design concept of the historical model: the round steel case in diameter of 40.5 mm, matt black dial with contrasting hour markers, protected by Plexiglas glass. To comply with the historical reliability the novelty is fitted organic glass with Plexiglas®, which in the modern watch industry has successfully replaced with a sapphire glass.
Plexiglass – a lightweight and durable polymeric material with anti-shock potential, which is actively used in the watch production of the XX century. Plexiglas - a necessary element to recreate the stylistic features of the watch prototype, it gives a vintage look to the novelty.
An unambiguous “reference" to the model 1959 is also an orange fluorescent compound. Luminous matter, facilitating reading in the dark, is applied to the hour markers, central hands and fixed bezel.
The novelty is different from the first diver model for its performance: the watch is supplied with signs to the complication - a chronograph, which counters are located at 3 and 9 o’clock. To control the chronograph are used the buttons, placed on the lateral surface of the case at the 2 and 4 o’clock positions, between them there is a crown "correcting" time. This feature is "vested" on a time-tested manufacturing mechanism 751G, which is a chronograph with vertical clutch and column wheel; two winding barrels, providing a 65-hour power reserve. The caliber consists of 235 parts, based on 37 jewels and frequency at 28 800 pc / h. The mechanism is completely designed and assembled in the company’s workshops. It is protected from moisture tight with the case that lets you go down to a depth of 100 meters.
Vintage Chronograph comes on a black calfskin strap.
