SIHH 2012: Cartier Introduces New Rotonde de Cartier Cadran Lové Tourbillon Watch

Wristwatches of Cartier - over the years "spent" in the global watch market, became the unquestioned symbol of style and luxury. At the annual exhibition SIHH 2012 in Geneva, the company has introduced several new products, among them - a model Rotonde de Cartier Cadran Lové Tourbillon, which is noted by the creators as a "dance of the time." Such a sonorous definition is appeared due to some features of this model: ultra light, almost weightless mechanism and flying tourbillon, designed specifically for the masters of this model.
The unique mechanism with the Geneva Seal, instead of the traditional location of the tourbillon carriage presents an original design, located between the bridges and the mechanism with its main plate - a special development by the company’s masters, especially created for this model. The result was a complete sense of innovation that the tourbillon carriage is "flying" over the bridge mechanism, like a "hanging" over the other details of the mechanism.
In developing this construction the makers also had to take into account the original design. The original design - in fact it is a skeletonized mechanism, which, however, unlike traditional skeletons, "exposes" the mechanism much more. Thus, in this design are visible almost all the details of the mechanism, which, of course, likely to appeal to fans of skeletonized mechanisms.
However, the masters in creating the inventive tourbillon do not stop, and, as already noted, and have paid special attention to design of the dial, placing the Roman hour indexes in white 18-karat gold in such a way to create the illusion of depth and concavity in the center of which is the tourbillon.
The case of the model in diameter of 46 mm is made of 18 carat white gold. The crown is also made of white gold with a sapphire cabochon. The glass covering the dial - sapphire, the case back also features a sapphire crystal. The watch water resistant is up to 30 meters.
The dial is made with the usage of electroplating; the sword-shaped hands are made of blued steel. The watch strap is made of alligator leather and features a double-folding clasp in 18-karat white gold.
The mechanism of the model - the manufacturing mechanical movement Calibre 9458 MC with manual winding, with the Geneva Seal and the tourbillon carriage in the shape of the letter "C", with diameter of 39 mm and the total thickness of 5.58 mm on the basis of 19 jewels, 17 lines. The mechanism consists of 167 parts, the frequency of balance - 21,600 vibrations per hour. The power reserve - 50 hours. Each model of this line is numbered.
