SIHH 2012: handmade masterpieces by the company Cartier. A new watch Large model Tortue, Cockatoo motif
Production of the jewelry and watch company Cartier today considered the standard of luxury and refinement, handmade craftsmanship. Since its inception, the company has managed to steadily gain a reputation as one of the best companies in its field and retain this status until now.
Each year, the masters of the company constantly surprise their fans by amazing products, each of which claims to be quite a masterpiece.
At SIHH 2012 the company has introduced a line of watches, the dials of which are made with a picture of some animal. One of these models is amazing watch Large model Tortue, Cockatoo motif.
Large model Tortue is an amazing item that combines the use of mother of pearl and enamel technology. The masters of Cartier have created an incredibly iridescent and almost transparent figure on the dial, which is a unique use of nacreous layers to create a drawing. Picture of a bird on the dial is made so realistic thanks to this method of nacre. The masters need a great tact in dealing with mother of pearl during the process of engraving to create a drawing. First all layers – scales of nacre, which depict the bird's tail, were selected. After that the master, using a special method of shading, virtually erased the line between colors, being able to achieve the perfect effect of the overflow of colors ranging from pastel pink to cloudy-white hues, creating the illusion of depth image. In addition to these colors a palette of colors like yellow and black is used to create the comb and eyes of the bird. This figure is made of enamel technique champlevé.
To create a realistic and original image the masters of the company had to work on every model of this collection about 50 hours. Cockatoo pictured on the dial, is surrounded by diamonds and made with such skill and realism, as it seems to wave its pearl wings and fly off your dial in the real world. The ladies watch Large model Tortue, Cockatoo motif are in limited edition of 80 pieces.
The case of the model Large model Tortue is made of 18 carat white gold with rhodium-plated, inlaid with 133 diamonds with total weight about 2.1 carats. The watch dial and is made of white gold with mother of pearl. Faceted crown is made of 18-karat white gold and decorated with diamonds. The iridescent pink strap of the model is made of alligator skin. Water resistance of the model is 30 meters. The mechanism of the watch is mechanical Calibre mechanism 430 MC with hand winding.
