An exceptional watch exhibition “Cartier Time Art”
From August 26 to November 6, 2011, in Zurich it will be held a new exhibition Cartier Time Art of the exclusive watches by the famous Swiss brand Cartier. The exhibition provides a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the history of the company, and to discover new facets of advanced brand models. The exhibition is running at the Museum Bellerive, which is the home for collections of Applied Art.
Cartier Time Art Exhibition is divided into two parts. The watches of historical value are available on the first floor; and the second floor represents the stunning specimens of Cartier watches, made under the guidance of a talented master Carole Forestier-Kasapi, who by his art and skill picked up the company on a whole new level of high watchmaking.
For the first time on the show there are exhibited more than 156 old watches. Among the exhibits there are such masterpieces of Cartier as released in 1874 the wall clock with enameled dial with chains and decorated with miniature, or a mystery watch, designed by Maurice Cuet and a famous French illusionist Jean-Eugene Robert-Houdin. These watches were in production for several decades.
The participant of the exhibition is also an early version of the legendary watch Santos-Dumont, which were specially produced in 1904 and named after a Brazilian aviation pioneer Alberto Santos-Dumont. He needed a wristwatch, because it was awkward to use the pocket watch while flying. His close friend Louis Cartier devised for daring aviator a unique first Cartier platinum wristwatch in a single copy. However, only since 1911, the company began to engage in mass production.
As noted above, on the second floor there are showed the masterpieces released over the past four years. Exhibited seventeen wristwatches are equipped with twelve proprietary mechanisms; one is more complicated of another. A series of concept watch is presented by the model Cartier ID One, made of the most advanced materials based on innovative technologies.
