Sea Hawk 1000 «Big Blue» Watch by Girard-Perregaux to the World Oceans Day

Under the auspices of Susan and David Rockefeller, Jr. will be celebrated World Oceans Day at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The event will be held in June 5, 2012, with the active assistance of the famous Swiss watch company Girard-Perregaux. Being passionate defenders of the environment, they have organized this event to draw public attention to the plight of flora and fauna of the ocean and the need to protect it.
The event includes a display of 15-minute documentary film Mission of Mermaids, shot by Susan. The film is a kind of love letter to the ocean. Through the eyes of the mythical image of a mermaid is presented the ocean with its problems and concerns. The film appeals to the audience with a call to rethink their attitude to the world water.
The watch brand in honor of this event, Girard-Perregaux has introduced in a limited edition line Sea Hawk 1000 «Big Blue» (Ref. 49950), retaining the classic design of the Sea Hawk collection. The novelty has a case in diameter of 44 mm, made of stainless steel with a matte finish. Unidirectional rotating bezel is graduated by diving markings. At 4 o'clock position on the case is set screwed-in crown, protected by overhangs. On the case is also located a helium valve. On the front the case is equipped with a sapphire crystal. On a steel screwed back side of the model is engraved with the sea god Poseidon and his trident.

The blue dial is marked by applied hour markers and hands coated with white phosphor-coated. The dial is also decorated with an image of the map. Time is indexed on the dial by means of the central hour and minute hands. The small second’s hand is put to the lateral dial at the 10 o’clock position; the round power reserve indicator is located at the 6 o’clock position.
Sea Hawk Model 1000 «Big Blue» (Ref. 49950) operates on the basis of the manufacturing automatic mechanism GP 033R0 at 27 jewels. The mechanism provides a 46-hour power reserve and the balance frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour.
Waterproof of the model reaches up to 1000 meters.
Sea Hawk 1000 «Big Blue» (Ref. 49950) is supplied on a blue rubber strap with a steel buckle.
