The limited series of watches AMVOX2 Racing Chronograph is distinguished by the chronograph counters which are made of carbon fiber for the first time, and several structural elements reminiscent of Aston Martin LOLA prototypes which were made for the circuits in which it will compete this year. For example, the monocoque chassis, and the discs and brake pads are capable of withstanding temperatures above 300 degrees Celsius.
Announced in late 2006, model Aston Martin LOLA B08/60 was designed as a competitor to the new Peugeot diesel model, with its enclosed cockpit compartment 908 HDi FAP. The new car fitted the new standards of ACO, announced a change of rules in 2010. Now, on the track are allowed only private cabins on LMP1s race 24 hours of Le Mans. The company Aston Martin had intended to build a car that could compete with the aerodynamic advantage of the Peugeot 908 and other compartments in preparation for the change in rules in 2010 in advance. Design of B08/60 LOLA shares many elements with its predecessor, model B06/10, except for closed cockpit instead of open cockpit. Front and side air intakes, spoilers are used similarly for motor cooling and ventilation, as in the B06/10, but they differ little more. The front is based on the specifications and design development of LOLA 2007. Phil Tiller made a lot of efforts to work on the aerodynamics of B08/60 and developed a narrow cabin. It was integrated into the design of the cab roof air intake for the engine. Side panels are also designed according to the latest trends of fashion.
Design of B08/60 has also been developed in partnership with Lola, Fluent Inc and AMD. Two brands provided software and hardware. Aerodynamic testing of scale models in the pipe were conducted in early 2007, and after small modifications B08/60 went out on track in December 2007.
The secrets of starting a vertical stopwatch
The AMVOX2 DBS Chronographe vertical chronograph by JaegerLeCoultre was a real revolution within the world of watchmaking when it was first released several years ago. The characteristic chronograph buttons disappeared. Instead, in their place, an ingenious mechanism allows the start, stop and reset to zero with the simple application of pressure on the sapphire crystal of the watch. A single gesture, a gesture that’s totally natural.
The porcess of starting and stopping the chronograph is accomplished by applying pressure on the crystal at 12, while to zero the counters. a similar gesture is made at 6.
Under the sign of the undoubt triumph
Presented as a prelude to the real race car, the Racing Chronograph AMVOX2 is produced in two limited series of only 100 pieces: one with a box of Grade 5 titanium with black PVD treatment, black dial and luminescent white markers, and other titanium Grade 5 white dial with luminescent black and markers.
The case back of Jaeger-LeCoultre Aston Martin Amvox 2 Chronograph B&P is engraved with the inscription, “Aston Martin Racing”, the dates “1959-2009″, and numbers 007 and 009 for the two LOLA cars in preparation for racing the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
