SP-1 Landship watch's revolutionary concept

SP-1 LandshipIn 2003 theSP-1 Landship substantial arsenal of Swiss watches was supplemented by new Azimuth revolutionary timepieces. The young Swiss company has performed a real revolution in watchmaking industry with its innovational elaborations and futuristic projects. The young brand places its main stake not on the classics, approved by ages, but on its won inimitable style creation. Azimuth watches’ design challenges human imagination. The company’s designers tend to slide away from the classic dial construction, accenting their attention on conceptually new shapes and constructions. The watch craftsmen have managed to fully embody their unusual notions about the contemporary watchmaking art in the “SP-1 Landship” model. The source of inspiration for this watch was military machinery: you can see the silhouette of a tank in the model case’s lineaments. Every watch detail is tight-knit, from the case’s production to its every gearing wheel and screw.
With the help of the SP-1 Landship Azimuth company’s designers have passed all power and sustainability of  the First World War  period’s tanks, used by the British army. The usage of titanium fusion in the case’s production once more highlights the ultimatism and durability of the victorious tanks, invading the enemy’s territories. It’s not a secret, that titanium was actively used in production of military machinery, including tanks’ production.
The super-sustainable and precise time measuring instruments are driven by modified Swiss automatic movements with a 38-days power reserve and the 28800 half oscillations per hour frequency. The watch has a small ledge in the form of a cut cone, embodying the tank’s turret. The first dial with hours is shown in the turret’s loophole. The watch “drum” allows its owner to “read” time vertically. This peculiarity has become Azimuth company’s distinctive feature, becoming a new standard for other watchmaking brands. The dome-shaped retrograde minutes indicator is situated lower. The front glasses, protecting the watch from moisture penetration into the movement. are made of sapphire crystals. The watch’s general aesthetics is supplemented by a rubber strap. The model’s water resistance is up to 30 metres deep.
The timepieces are executed in limited edition – just 100 of personally numbered pieces. The watch was presented within the framework of the international BaselWorld 2011 watch and jewelery exhibition.
