Partnership of Dresden National Assembly and Lange & Söhne Company is taking new forms
The partnership of the Dresden National Assembly and the watch company Lange & Söhne is taking new forms.
As a partner of the Dresden National Assembly the watchmaker Lange & Söhne acts since 2006. The recently signed agreement will run until 2015 a partnership with an outstanding museum complex of modernity.
During this period, a special attention will be paid to the Physics and Mathematics Salon, which will open its doors in 2013 after restoration. The watch company Lange & Söhne will not only provide financial support to the Salon, and will participate in the creation of video animation, dedicated to the watch movements. The company Lange & Söhne will also help to replenish the watch collection of Salon.
Wilhelm Schmidt, CEO of Lange, said: "With the Salon of the Dresden National Assembly we have established long-standing cooperation. Since the advent of accurate watch mechanisms up to the present day the Physics and Mathematics Salon and modern watchmaking industry in the Ore Mountains are actively cooperating. And we are infinitely glad that this issue will be devoted to the future exhibition of the museum."
Physics and Mathematics Salon has brought a tremendous contribution to the development of timekeeping. Already in the XVIII century the Salon became the distributor of the unique knowledge of the precise mechanisms, which were produced in Saxony, far beyond the state.
It is here that the young Ferdinand A. Lange knew the scientific basis for measuring time. In 1845, Lange in Glashütte was founded the first manufactory, which became the foundation of Saxon watchmaking.
The first evidence of the close historical connection of the Salon and the company is early examples of pocket watches by A. Lange & Söhne, represented in collection of the museum.
Special attention in the renewed museum will be paid to the emergence of precision watchmaking in Saxony and the subsequent transfer in Dresden of the precision mechanics production facility, namely, the Ore Mountains.
The famous watch company A. Lange & Söhne will continue its cooperation with the National Assembly in Dresden, funding international exhibition activities of the museum. The company A. Lange & Söhne, represented in more than 60 years, embodies the perfect standard of excellence and Saxon culture, and today the brand acts as an intermediary in dialogue between cultures of different countries.
