GRAND LANGE 1 by A. Lange & Söhne at SIHH 2012

In the current year the Saxon manufactory A. Lange & Söhne has focused not on the number of new products, but on their qualitative component. At the annual exhibition SIHH the company has introduced a completely new model - Lange 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar, other watch models are the result of creative and technical rethinking of ideas embodied in a particular collection. The latter is the Grand Lange 1.

The new version keeps the overall design concept of watches LANGE 1 - a round case, asymmetrical design of dial, typical for regulator watches the division of the central hands for various dials, double-aperture of date. Design features of the mechanism are kept - three-quarter platinum, gold screwed chatons, the balance by adjusting micro screws. A new mechanism L095 with manual winding was designed for the GRAND LANGE 1.1. The traditional arrangement of parts has been modified. This led to an increase of the diameter of the movement (34.1) and allowed to place more items on one level. New dimensions of the mechanism have affected on the case size, made in three versions - of platinum, yellow or pink gold. The case diameter has increased to 40.9 mm, with a thickness only of 8.8 mm. Thoroughly thought-out change of details location of caliber allowed keep a balanced structure of an elegant dial LANGE 1, "adapted" it to a larger size of watches. Hour, minute and second hands, brought out the displaced from the center of the small dials, a large date indicator and the hand indicator of the power reserve do not overlap: the harmonious proportions of the main dial are carefully preserved. Only the date window are changed, which has been increased in line with the new size of the dial. The dial made of one piece of silver, is covered with durable sapphire crystal. The transparent window is also on the case back of the watch; fans of the mechanics can watch the operation of the new carefully finished and decorated caliber through it.

The mechanism consists of 397 parts with 42 stones, the oscillation frequency of the balance is 21 600 pc / h and power reserve is 72 hours.
The impressive three-day power reserve is provided by a winding drum. The mechanism is decorated with banded texture grinding in style Glashutte, three-quarter platinum and bridges are made of nickel silver (new silver is an alloy of copper and nickel 5-35% and zinc 13-45%).
The balance with adjusting screws is visible among the curved bridges, high-quality carrying spiral is made in the workshops of manufacture. The mechanism is assembled and decorated by hand; setting of accuracy is in five positions. The mechanism is completely designed and assembled in the factory’s workshops.
