LANGE 1 TIME ZONE by A. Lange & Sohne at the SIHH 2012

At the annual Salon Haute Horlogerie SIHH 2012 the Saxon manufacture A. Lange & Sohne has presented a new version of the LANGE 1 TIME ZONE, which is a creative and technical rethinking of ideas embodied in the icon collection of the brand. The new model is easily recognized by the "genetic code" of the Lange 1 collection, and the minor structural and aesthetic "corrections" as if are confirmed that these masterpieces of precision mechanics will always remain in the focus of the fans of watchmaking.
In creating the LANGE 1 TIME ZONE watch, the watchmakers give the priority of the selected time indexing clarity as basic information. On the asymmetrical dial two separate time zones coexist: to indicate the time of residence is offset from the center of the dial, the pointer of the second time zone is displayed on the small dial, located at 5 o’clock position. The transition to the time of another time zone is carried out by pressing the button, located on the lateral surface of the case at the 8 o’clock position. The process of change can be traced by means of a rotating ring with the names of 24 cities representing time zones of the planet.
One press of the button moves the ring towards the east at 15 degrees, with the hour hand of the small dial moves an hour ahead. The cleverly designed device allows you to invert the synchronization between the primary and secondary dials: time of the additional dial moves on the main dial, and the hands of the additional dial occupy the position that was previously on the hands of the main dial.

The new version of the Lange 1 Time Zone watch with luminescent dial allows you accurately to make changes of the pointers in the dark. The phosphor compound covers the switch power reserve indicator at position 9 o'clock, as well as hands and labels of the asymmetrically arranged dials that indicate the main and additional time.
The significant information to not confuse day and night, provide small hand pointers "day / night", located on the primary and secondary dials. The hand indicators with a silver rim in half (day), and a blue rim in half blue (night) can accurately perform the installation and determine what time of a day in another time zone.
With the indication of the main dial is synchronized the date function, a pointer of which is located at 1 o’clock position. The multi-level dial, made from one piece of silver, is covered with a durable sapphire crystal. Inside the case in 18 K white gold is set a manufactory mechanism with manual winding L031.1, consisting of 417 parts. The caliber is based on 54 jewels; the balance frequency is of 21 600 pc / h, power reserve when fully wound - 72 hours. The impressive three-day power reserve is provided by two winding barrels. The caliber is created in compliance with all technological features of the Saxon watchmaking - three-quarter platinum, made of nickel silver (an alloy of copper with 5-35% nickel and 13-45% zinc), screwed gold chatons, the hand-engraved balance bridge, the bridge of the intermediate wheel, elegantly trimmed precision system setting of the balance equilibrium with the "swan's neck" spring.
The mechanism is designed and assembled in the company’s workshop, the process of decorating is done manually, and the tuning accuracy is produced in five positions.
