New Vacheron Constantin Manufactory

This month, the famous watchmaker Vacheron Constantin has opened a new manufactory for the production of components, which covers an area with the size of 7000 sq m, to the end of the year is going to attract more than 200 employees.
For many years, the town of Le Brassus was the usual village located on the left bank of the Orbs in the center of Vallée de Joux, in the canton of Jura. However, the 18th century was a turning point in its history. It was then that the famous watchmaker Jean Blancpain opened his manufactory. After 140 years, there was founded the company Audemars Piguet. 2013 is the year of the Vacheron Constantin third watch manufactory opening.

The opening of the new manufactory is the right step, timely management`s response to the growing demand for its products. Until the end, the brand will take about 200 employees, and in the years of 2016-17 - three hundred. They have one goal - the creation of components for various models of watches. All other steps - assembling, insertion watches in a case and the final test, will still take place in a manufactory in Geneva.
According to the administration, the new manufactory of the brand is different from other watch factory with a new system of labor organization under the name of Lean Manufacturing. It has proven its effectiveness in many other industries, and Vacheron Constantin has adapted to the special conditions of its watch industry.
The essence of innovation is the following: if the earlier work has been built around the workshops, but now it is based on production flow, which increases the responsibility of employees, the quality of their work, reducing loss of time.

New Vacheron Constantin Manufactory in Le Brassus

Leaders of Vacheron Constantin, erecting a new building, are thinking not only of production, but also on the educational side of their work - namely, the need for a change of the current generation of artists. Because in Switzerland there is no national curriculum for training watchmakers, so the brand Vacheron Constantin has decided to arrange a kind of refresher courses for their employees at work.
