Poisson Watch by Vacheron Constantin at SIHH 2012
At the annual exhibition SIHH 2012 the Swiss manufacture Vacheron Constantin has introduced a new model from the collection Métiers d'Art - Les Univers Infinis, in which were used 3 methods of processing - engraving, enameling and guilloche.
On the creation of the new model of creative design the company inspired by Dutch artist Maurits Cornelis Escher, whose mosaic pictures are based on the perception of the game.
The "mosaic" disk of the watch attracts with the emphasized geometric forms, the harmony of all parts of the composition and, of course, the right mix of colors. While in this model are dominant gray-blue tones, in which are painted the flashing fish on the dial.
Their image is made of engraver, who carefully "cuts" on the disk from the gray gold the outlines and eyes of aquatic animals. This is followed by a process of guilloche: patterns of symmetrical lines with thickness of 0.1 mm, traced to the engraved disk give a visual image of depth, and parallel contours, outlining the head, tail, fins and body of fish, are covered with shiny scales that give a realistic picture.

Then the process of enameling is following. In decorating the dial is used the technique of "cloisonne": first is laid the "wall" of a thin gold wire, designed to separate the enamel of different colors, then in each of the "forms" is filled with the enamel of the corresponding color. After this process the enamel image is baked in the oven at very high temperatures. Firing is performed several times to make the colors more saturated.
After the final firing the finished disc is polished, in the result of which the dividing delays and the enamel can be reduced by one level.
The last stage is the process of painting, giving the dial shine.
The "frame" for this masterpiece is the case of 18 K white gold. The watch on both sides is protected by a strong sapphire glass. Through the transparent case back you can observe the work of an automatic mechanism 2460 SC, engraved and decorated by hand. The reliable movement is completely designed and assembled in the company’s workshops.
The model is released in a limited edition: to buy the watch will be able only for 20 art admirers all over the world.
