«Métiers d'Art - La symbolique des laques» Collection by Vacheron Constantin: a trip to a new dimension
The company Vacheron Constantin has presented to the demanding public a new line of watches «Métiers d'Art - La symbolique des laques», which consists of three unique models.
The new collection "tells" us a fascinating story of creative ways of one of the oldest paint companies’ masters in Japan, Zôhiko, settled in Kyoto since the beginning of 1661, and the skilled watchmakers of the oldest watchmaking houses in the world.
Masters of Zôhiko are acknowledged by experts in the art of enamel painting "maki-e," which in Japanese means "filled up the picture." Painting is the most complex techniques of decorative lacquering. Has not yet congealed paint, usually black, is sprinkled with gold or silver powder and covered with a kind of unique patterns. Varnish is made from the juice of lacquer sumac Rhus verniciflua, which homeland is highlands of central Asia and parts of Tibet.
The new collection «Métiers d'Art - La symbolique des laques» is devoted to the natural beauty of the seasons. For each model of the line are created two dials, which work took a total of more than 7 years.

The symbolic landscape of the dial - a full moon with floating clouds (model Tsukimi), cherry blossoms (model Hanami), snowfall with snowflakes (model Yukimi) - creates a harmonious background for the central hour and minute hands, which are set in motion by the ultrathin mechanism 1003, whose skeletonized embodiment can delve deeper into the process of contemplation. The legendary caliber, made of 18 carat gold, is coated with ruthenium, ensuring harmony in the color of the movement’s components with a dial, visually emphasizing the perfect execution of the composition. The caliber 1003 in the historic heritage of the ultrathin mechanisms is elevated to the rank of the standard. The caliber in thickness of 1.64 mm and with a hand-wound is marked by Hallmark of Geneva, and the transparent sapphire crystal set on both sides of the case, allows the monitoring of the exceptional finishing of the caliber, which includes chamfering, engraving and micro graining made entirely by hand. The caliber on 18 jewels makes 18,000 vibrations per hour and has a 30-hour power reserve.
The cases of the novelties Winter ref.33222/000G-9706, Spring ref. 33222/000R-9701 and Summer ref. 33222/000R-9704 in diameter of 40 mm and a thickness of 7.50 mm are made of 18 carat white or rose gold. The watch water-resistant is 30 meters.
The final touch - a black Mississippi alligator leather strap with a large square structure, equipped with a classic clasp in the shape of Maltese cross half made of white or pink gold.
All three novelties from the collection are released in a limited edition of 20 instances, so to buy the watches will be quite difficult, but, if desired, is possible.
