New anti-magnetic mechanism by Omega
Held on July 11, 2013 at the Presidential Hall of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the press conference was devoted to the presentation of anti-magnetic watch mechanism Seamaster> 15,000 Gauss by the famous watch company Omega.
President Stephen Urquhart, Vice President and Head of Development Jean-Claude Manashon and president of the Asulab research laboratory Michelle Williamin told about the advantages of the new caliber.

Caliber 8605
Feature of the new mechanism is the property not to subject to magnetic fields greater than the value of 1.5 Tesla (15,000 Gauss), which is ahead of any previous non-magnetic mechanisms. The new caliber is made of materials, which do not contain iron technology protected by several patents. The best engineers, scientists and specialists of several companies worked hard to develop this mechanism: Asulab, Nivarox ETA.

Since 2008 the artisans began to deal with creating the new unique mechanism, when was released the silicon balance-spring Si14, which was an anti-magnetic element. Another factor contributing to the creating of the coaxial caliber 8508 was the making of the axes of rotation from the magnetic material Nivagauss ™. The nonmagnetic material is selected for the coaxial plates of the mechanism, including the anchor fork, a pulse gear and pulse wheels. The spring of the shock absorbers is made of amorphous metal.

According to Urquhart, they "managed to organize industrial production of this perfect anti-magnetic mechanism that from October 2013 to be applied in the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra> 15,000 Gauss watch, and then in all coaxial Omega watches”.

The new mechanism is inserted into a steel watchcase of Seamaster Aqua Terra> 15,000 Gauss, water resistant to 15 bar. The diameter - 41.5 mm. The black dial of the model with vertical lines is made in the classical style of the Aqua Terra watches.
