Zenith and an award of Norman Mailer
The watch company Zenith has introduced its watches in a new light: as an ideal instrument of measuring time for writers, journalists, artists and other creative people who have dedicated their lives to finding answers to questions about the laws of life. To follow this idea the watch company has sponsored the events of celebrating annual award of Norman Mailer.
In 2011 the prize was awarded to four talented people: writers Arundhati Roy and Elie Wiesel, writer and journalist Gay Taleze, as well as the world famous rocker Keith Richards. The winners were awarded with the wrist watch El Primero Chronomaster Open by Zenith.
The awards ceremony was held in New York. This is the third ceremony, which is organized by Norman Mailer Center & Writers Colony - a center established in memory of the legendary American writer. The purpose of Norman Mailer Center & Writers Colony is to support the writers captured the passion of the most important puzzles of his time, like Norman Mailer himself. The purpose of the center is also a desire to preserve the bold literature, which is a real voice of our time.
Every year on the awards ceremony by Norman Mailer collect more than 500 famous writers and artists, winners of the Pulitzer, Booker and Nobel prizes. Now the watch manufactory Zenith will join this company. Their watches will be awarded to winners of the Prize. Also the watch company will support the Norman Mailer Center and other initiatives, in addition to the awards.
The watch Zenith El Primero Chronomaster Open has became the first sign of this cooperation. By the way, Zenith watches were also presented to former President of the United States Bill Clinton, publisher Mortimer Zuckermann and journalist Tina Brown, who were awarded the prize of Norman Mailer
this year.
Presented at the award ceremony the watch is an updated version of chronometers of 1969. In this model, the dial opens the heart of the chronograph: the balance and escapement. The watch case is 45mm in diameter and made of steel or pink gold. Below, at the "6:00" is a power reserve indicator, resembling a merry smile on the dial.
