In 1996 Vacheron Constantin became a Swiss holding company, Compagnie Finansiere Richemont S.A.
In the Richemont Group includes companies that produce luxury goods, including jewelry watches, stationery and clothing. The group includes such prestigious brands as Vacheron Constantin, Cartier, Van Cleef & Aprels, Piaget, Jaeger-LeCoultre, IWC, Panerai, Montblanc, Baume & Mercier, A. Lange & Sohne, Lancel, Alfred Dunhill, Roger Dubuis, Shanghai Tang, Purdey, Azzedine Alaia, Chloe. Joint venture 50/50 with the Ralph Lauren Watch.
Richemont was created in 1988 by a South African businessman Johann Rupert, using international assets Rembrandt Group Limited of South Africa (now known as Remgro Limited). Rembrandt Group, founded in 1940, owned significant stakes in the production of wines and spirits, tobacco products, financial services, gold and diamond mining investments in the production of luxury goods. By 1989, Richemont already owns stakes in the holding Cartier Monde SA and Rothmans Internatioonal, Alfred Dunhill, Montblanc and Chloe. In 1993, the holding is divided into Rothmans International NV / PLC, oversees tobacco production and Vendom Luxury Group SA / PLC - the production of luxury goods.
By 2003, Richemont owns shares of Van Cleef & Arpels and A. Lange & Sohne. In 2007 creates a joint venture with Ralph Lauren 50/50 and invests in the Parisian fashion house Azzedine Alaia. And then acquires 60 percent stake in the production of Roger Dubuis SA.
Each year the company invests in a EUR 20 million in research and innovation in the production of watches and other luxury goods, development of marketing. |
