Maltese Cross

Collection Malte presents the base of all products of watch brand Vacheron Constantin. In models of collection is tracing organic combination of modern design and technique perfection. The name “Malte” is connected with logo of the company and “Maltese Cross” - the symbol of knightly order. Symbol of “Maltese cross” was included in logo Vacheron Constantin in 1880. It  reproduces one of detail of watch movement, which is fixing to drum for limit the degree of plant. They use differentiation of movement with one closed slit, which reproduces uniform rotational motion to intermittent, used in preventing overwinding in Swiss watches, here comes the second name - “Geneva drive”. “Maltese movement” - the name came from resemblance with Maltese cross. Though, the theme of cross are tracing in more earlier watches of the brand. In 1770, masters of the company made watches with first complicated movement, the case was made in the form of cross.

Maltese cross – eight ended cross, which was used by knightly order Hospitaliers (loannites). Hospitaliers – catholic spiritual-knightly order of St. John of Jerusalem, founded in 1099 in Jerusalem, as organization of support  poor and sick pilgrims on Holy Land, after capture Jerusalem by Christians during First Crusade. After expulsion of Christians from Holy Land in 1291, Hospitaliers moved their order to Rodos island, and then to Malta, where comes the name “Maltese cross”. In XIII, with master Raymond du Puy  have its dissemination.
Symbol of order – eight ended cross. 8 is universal number direction in space, corresponded to 8 main states of Europe, and at the same time represented 8 knight’s virtues: believe, charity, truth, justice, sinless, humility, sincerity and patience.

In the model Vacheron Constantin Malte Regulator Tourbillon there is one distinctive feature - “Maltese tourbillon”: carriage of tourbillon is in the form of Maltese cross. Barrel- shaped case is made from platinum 40.00x50.00. The dial is covered with fine-grained pattern. On the periphery there is minute scale with plated watch markers from 5 to 55. On the mark of 60 there is small dial with hour hand. Minute hand is on the axis of tourbillon. At the level of the mark 45-50 minutes the scale of power reserve is with blued hand.  The back case is transparent. Strap is made from alligator leather. Water resistance of watches is up to 30 meters. There are models made of rose gold.

In collection Vacheron Constantin you can choose jewelery model – Malte Regulator Tourbillon High Jewellery invisible-setting – movement with hand winding, 18 000 vph. The barrel-shaped case is made from white  gold 18K, the size is 39.60x49.50, thickness is 13.15. The dial and back case are covered with sapphire crystal with reflecting coating. Case and dial are incrusted with 274 diamonds of baguette-cut about 12.30 karat. Technique of stones fixation - “invisible frame”. Indication of hours and minutes on different dials. Small second hand is on the axis of tourbillon. Carriage of tourbillon in the shape of “Maltese cross”. Power reserve is 45 hours. The strap is made from alligator leather with folding clasp, incrusted with precious stones. Water resistance is up to 30 meters. Anti-magnetic protection is up to  25 A/m. Watches are supplied only by individual order. The same model you can choose with bracelet incrusted with diamonds. Case, bracelet and dial are decorated with more then 1600 diamonds baguette-cut with the weight of 50 karat, which are fixed by technique “invisible frame”. Watches produced in limited series of 8 pieces. It supplied only by individual order.

Vacheron Constantin Malte Openworked Tourbillon – model “skeleton” with tourbillon. Skeletonized movement with hand winding. Functions: hours, minutes, seconds, date, power reserve, tourbillon. Hand index of the date. Second hand is on the axis of tourbillon, carriage of which is in form of “Maltese cross”. You can choose model with case made from platinum 950 or 18 karat rose gold. Sizes – 36.00x48.00. The back case is transparent. Strap is made from alligator leather. Water resistance is up to 30 meters. In this model range you can choose jewelery watches-skeletons with tourbillon, the case of which is incrusted with 281 diamonds about 5.50 karat.

Vacheron Constantin Malte Chronograph. You can choose model with case from white or rose gold 18-karat gold. Movement is automatic. Functions: hours, minutes, small second hand, date (showing in the window), chronograph with 30-minutes and 12-hours counters. Strap is made from alligator leather with folding clasp. Water resistance is up to 30 meters.

In collection Malte you can choose models with functions of second time zone. Vacheron Constantin Malte Dual Time. Movement is automatic, functions: hour, minute, hand index of date, power reserve, second time zone with indicator of day and night. Case is barrel-shape 36.00x48.00. Models are in white or rose gold 18 karat. Strap is made from alligator leather with folding clasp. Power reserve is 40 hours. In this model range you can choose watches Vacheron Constantin with case from white gold with incrusted 78 diamonds of classic frame about 1.09 karat.

In collection Malte you can choose model with moon phase indicator and power reserve  - Vacheron Constantin Malte Moon Phase and Power-Reserve. Movement with hand winding. Certificated with “Geneva seal”. Produced in two variants: in case from white or rose gold. The center of the dial is guilloched. Functions: hours, minutes, small second hand, moon phase indicator, power reserve. Water resistance is up to 30 meters.
