Unlike its prototype, which was in production in the late 1930s, the Radiomir watch of 40s was distinguished by its case and method of the strap fastening. Thus, in the old fixtures were welded to the case. In modern models Radiomir 1940, the creation of which, as the name implies, are inspired by the watch in 40’s, the case and strap are attached to each other with small lugs, protruding from the case.

The dial of the model is designed as a "sandwich", so characteristic for Panerai: fluorescent substance is distributed between two metal plates. The upper plate is decorated with temporal indexes, the second time zone, 24-hour indicator and a linear power reserve indicator. The watch case in diameter of 45 mm is made of polished red gold. The screwed-in crown is with engraved logo. The bezel is also made of polished red gold. The case back is transparent, made of sapphire glass, through which you can see the skeletonized bridges of the mechanism.
The watch is operated on the basis of the manufacturing movement R.2002, fully developed by Panerai, with manual winding, the thickness - 6.6 mm, 21 jewels, 28.000 vibrations per hour, 246 details, the second time zone, power reserve - 8 days, the water resistance of the model is 50 meters. The watch is equipped with a strap made of brown genuine alligator.
