Richard Mille presents a new material for cases

Recently a watch brand Richard Mille announced the implementation of the new carbon material for watch cases, which is obtained by technology NTPT ® (North Thin Ply Technology). It was used in the creation of the first carbon case RM 011 NTPT ®.

Originally, this material was used for sails yachts, participating in regattas. Then NTPT- carbon passed into the sphere of "Formula -1" and in the construction of an aircraft Solar Impulse 2. The unique material with a wavy surface is composed of a plurality of layers arranged parallel to the carbon filament. The thickness of these layers is 30 microns. The layers are impregnated with rubber, after which the material is woven in a special machine, which changes the direction of the filaments to 45° between the layers. As a result, surface resembles a tree cut. Heated to 120 ° C under a pressure of 6-bar carbon NTPT ® is processed on CNC machines in a factory Richard Mille Proart for the production of watch cases.

NTPT ® - Carbon reduces the likelihood of stress limit by 25% and of microcracks by 200%. It fully protects the automatic caliber RMAC1, recognizable by a large date aperture at 12 o'clock position, the month indicator at 4 o’clock position and chronograph function with flyback. Movement made of titanium is equipped with 55-hour power reserve.
