Richard Mille with its novelty Tourbillon RM 052 Skull at the SIHH 2012
The Swiss company Richard Mille, specializing in the production of complex and original watches, at the Geneva exhibition SIHH 2012 has introduced its new Tourbillon RM 052 Skull watch. The model immediately attracts the attention with its original dial, on which is placed a large skull.
The barrel-shaped watch case in length of 50, 00 mm, width of 42.70 mm and 15.95 mm thick, made of titanium, white or red gold consists of three components: the bezel, middle case and caseback. To achieve the development of such case is difficult because it requires several steps, each of which must be enough time, effort and skill. To handle the case requires 255 operations, and for satin finishing and polishing – 5 hours.
The case of the model is completely skeletonized, and the bezel and caseback is a frame with holes. To make such a case is not accidental for the brand’s masters, since the skeletonisation of the case enhances the visual identity of the watch.
The bezel is attached to the case by 12 screws and on the back side - by 8 screws, made of stainless steel 316L. Dial, which consists of several parts, is also skeletonized. At the top of the dial on the frame are marked Arabic numerals coated with luminous compound. In the center of the dial is a large skull with two skeletonized hands, also covered with luminescent coating. The company’s designers came to the original decision not only in the performance of the dial, but also the tourbillion, placed in the "mouth" of the skull, between the teeth. The dial is protected by a double-sided anti-glare sapphire crystal. The back of the watch is also covered with a sapphire crystal and makes it possible to enjoy the work and the design of the mechanism in the form of the skull. The watch is equipped with the manufactory mechanism RM052 with manual winding in dimensions of 32.80 mm x 30.90 mm and a thickness of 6.87 mm. The caliber is assembled on the 19 jewels, the frequency - 21,600 vibrations per hour, power reserve - 48 hours, it is equipped with functions: hours, minutes, and tourbillion.
The unique novelty by Richard Mille is released in a limited edition of 21 items: 15 instances with a titanium case and 6 instances with the case in red or white gold.
