A New Chopard Jacky Ickx Edition V for fans of extraordinary mechanisms

At the end of September 2011 the famous Swiss watch brand Chopard has released a new wrist watch Chopard Jacky Ickx Edition V, dedicated to the Belgian driver Jacky Ickx. By the release of the new chronograph, the co-president of Chopard Karl-Friedrich Scheufele highlighted the cooperation between the brand and the famous athlete.
The model Jacky Ickx Edition V (Ref. 168543-3001) is the fifth release, which is devoted to Jacky Ickx. Jacky Ickx is considered to be one of the greatest racers in the history of motorsport. From 1967 to 1969 in the Formula 1 he took part in 114 races and was the winner of the Grand Prix of France -1968 at the age of 23. In 1983 he became the champion of the Paris-Dakar race, but the most successful performances were in the 24 Hours Le Mans rally in which he owned six wins. The novelty from Chopard is a tribute to the famous Le Mans.
The watch round case is made of stainless steel. The case diameter is 42.40 mm. The watch water-resistant is up to 50 meters. The crown and chronograph button are screwed to the case for the strength. The bezel is marked by the tachymeter scale. The case from the front side is protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. The case back is attached to the watch case by eight screws. It is engraved the name of model, the facsimile signature of Jacky Ickx and the Le Mans rally emblem.
The black dial is modified with the silver chronograph counters and red hands, and applied temporary indexes and central hands of hours and minutes, covered with luminescent coating.
The model is based on the Swiss automatic mechanism of diameter 29.30 mm. The mechanism is built on 49 jewels and makes 28 800 vph. The watch power reserve is 40 hours. Chronograph function is complicated by Flyback. Chronograph counters are located in the positions of hours 3, 6 and 9. The double date aperture is set on the time index of 12. The unique caliber is certified by COSC.
The novelty is available on a black leather strap with the buckle made of stainless steel. The model is released in a limited quantity of 2,000 copies.
