Wristwatches of Rolex for Climbers

The legendary watch company Rolex throughout its history has repeatedly participated in research expeditions. Today, Rolex has released Hillary Tenzing Edition - a set for climbers which in addition to the necessary tools includes the Rolex Explorer watch.

The model Rolex Explorer is presented in three versions, with a personalized vintage case of Hillary Tenzing Edition. This issue is dedicated to the famous ascent of Everest in 1953, and besides the Hillary Tenzing Edition watch it includes a number of created to order items that are simply irreplaceable for the traveler on the road. Only 88 climbing sets of Rolex will be issued.

Hillary Tenzing Edition is created and named in honor of two of the greatest climbing dynasties of all the time. The sons of two legendary families of climbers - Jamling Tenzing and Peter Hillary will take part in the gala evening, which will be held on March 30. They not only tell about the exploits of their fathers, who rose to the highest mountain of the World, but also will tell about the special role of the watches Rolex, which accompanied them throughout the expedition.

In March 31 will be organized a unique exhibition of old watches in which the author of the idea of a Hillary Tenzing Edition chronometric talk about the industry, the history and development of today's Rolex.

At Christie's auction the Rolex Hillary Tenzing Edition watch under the number of 88/88 was sold for 104,568 dollars. The company gave the money to the families of Tenzing and Hillary. And the wristwatch with number 01/88, recently went to a buyer from Hong Kong. The serial number is engraved on the back of each limited edition model - right in the middle. The image of the Hillary Tenzing Edition watch has quite a classic; all three models have black dials. The watch is delivered on the vintage leather straps.

One of the models has a rotating bezel and date window at the 3 o’clock position. On its hands and hour markers is applied the yellow fluorescent compound. Two other models are also "illuminated" in white fluorescent and among the labels there are three Arabic numerals - 9, 6 and 3.
