The wrist watches Baume & Mercier have their origin in the distant past. The Baume’s family settled in the Swiss village of Les Bois, in 1542. Since then, the traditions of watchmaking are passed down from generation to generation. In 1830, the brothers Louis Victor and Pierre-Jean-Celestin Baume founded the Baume’s watch house in Le Bois. In 1851 in London, they founded the watch company “Baume brothers”. They participate in the construction of the railway, which facilitates the spread of timepieces. The watches of Baume & Mercier quickly acquire an international recognition.
Its current name - Baume & Mercier - the watch company got in 1920 when one of the grandsons of the company founders, a talented watchmaker William Baum has teamed up with a successful businessman Paul Mercier. Paul Mercier is a Russian by origin, Paul Cheredichenko who received Swiss citizenship. This partnership has led to the creation of watch house Baume & Mercier, and from that moment the flight of the technical and design ideas started.The watch house follows all the traditions, founded by the father and grandfather "to make only the highest quality timepieces." The watch brand Baume & Mercier in 1921 received a Hallmark of Geneva - the maximum degree of recognition in the world of high watchmaking. In 1964 the watch company has registered its corporate logo in the form of the Greek letter "F" - a symbol of symmetry. Leonardo da Vinci called the letter in his guidance, "Divine Proportion" – the gold figure. The watch house for almost 2 centuries demonstrates skill, to perfect with each model, follows the principles of commitment to the traditions of Haute Horlogerie. In developing their models the watch brand Baume & Mercier is in step with the times, prearranged all the recent developments and trends of the world of watches. In 1973 the wrist watches “Galaxie”,”Mimosa”, “Stardust” received the award “Golden Rose Award” in Baden-Baden. That same year, the company Baume & Mercier has developed a model of the wristwatch “Riviera”, which became a classic, integral part of the style of the brand Baume & Mercier. Now this model is represented in different variations and sizes: stylish and ultra-modern, elegant and impressive, the watches for real men and the feminine models. In 2009 the company Baume & Mercier presented a new men’s wristwatch Riviera XXL Chrono Diver - an ultra-modern model. The watch case is made of steel and is designed for lovers of the marine element. It would be appropriate also in the man's hand on the deck of a luxury yacht. The watch face colors: black, yellow and orange make it easier to read information from the dial. The convex black rotating bezel allows the owner to observe the time under water, and indicates when it is necessary to surface. The mechanism of the watch is automatic. The watch is equipped with chronograph function, tachometer, and date display.
The collection of watches William Baume is a tribute to the founder of the watch mark. The models in this collection are with ultra-slim cases - Ultra-Thin. In 1993, the watch house Baume & Mercier joined the Richmont Group.
In 2002, the watch company opened its own manufacturing plants in Switzerland, Les Brenets. The company shows dynamic growth and rapid technological development. A perfect blend of tradition and modernity, sobriety and elegance - this is the credo of Baume & Mercier. One of the oldest watch brands is looking confidently into the future.
