The German A. Lange & Söhne watch manufacture was founded in 1845 in a small Saxon town of Glashütte. Watchmaking had been successfully developing in Saxony before the Second World War started. In 1948 the post-war Soviet administration expropriated properties of many German watch manufactures, including A. Lange & Söhne. The bygone glory of German watch companies was restored only after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the Germany's unification. In December 1990 the new company – Lange Uhren GmbH was created in Glashütte. The brand has been awarded over 100 national and international prizes since its restoration.
The company was awarded 2 prizes at «The best watches in the world - Golden Balance 2008» competition: “Lange31” watch was rewarded the “E” category prize – “watches, that cost over 25000 Euro” and the Saxonia Automatik watch – in the “D” category – “watches, that cost less, than 25000 Euro”.

Lange & Söhne watches' cachet, declaring them the best and the most sustainable watches.
