Breguet Exposition in Geneva Airport
The watchmaker Breguet decided in an unusual way to demonstrate its connection with aviation, decorating the relegation zone of the Geneva airport with luxurious exposition of watches.
Starting aviation history of Breguet was put by Louis Charles Breguet, a descendant of the company founder Abraham - Louis Breguet, one of the pioneers of aviation. Louis Charles created the first aircraft for non-stop flight across the South Atlantic in 1927 and became the founder of Compagnie des messageries aériennes, which would later be known as Air France.
The exposition, exhibited in the relegation zone of the Geneva airport, includes the most technologically advanced time meters of Breguet, such as Type XXII 3880 and Classique Chronométrie 7727 watches. For the manufacture of both models, Breguet applied the revolutionary silicon technology. Since silicon is a very light material, the company Breguet produces from it speed controls and high- balance spring. For example, silicon components in the Type XXII watch contributes to the work of the mechanism with 10 Hz and maximum accuracy. Magnetic fields do not affect the silicon, and this property allows embeding magnets into the mechanism to improve the performance of the caliber. The Classique Chronométrie 7727 watch is equipped with a magnetic rod and have no less impressive features.
Exhibits will be gracing the airport in Geneva until 31 January.
