Piaget presents new version of Altiplano 900P watch: breakthrough in watchmaking
The famous company Piaget presents a new version of the famous model Altiplano 900P, which has become a world premiere. New version Altiplano 900P is presented in pink gold. With case in thickness of 3,65 mm, watch Altiplano 900P has become the thinnest watch in the world. Now the company has decided to present Piaget version made of precious rose gold, which win the hearts of lovers of luxury, at the same time admirers of fine watch making creations.
The new model Altiplano 900P has become a kind tribute to the long history of the company, because part 900P in the model name is devoted to the caliber Calibre 9P, which was the first ultra-thin movement with manual winding, which the company Piaget created in 1957.

Creation of ultrafine mechanism is a rather difficult process. From the first sketches of the future mechanism should take into account all the functional, aesthetic issues as well as the durability of all components, since the creation of such mechanisms, many parts are cut and reduced to the maximum. Masters of Piaget failed to merge mechanism and ultra-luxury case of rose gold.
During three years watchmakers, case masters and designers worked together, carefully designing each stage of development, production, commissioning and finishes, bringing to light a watch "miracle" - Altiplano 900P watch. Each solution was also aesthetic value and vice versa. Each of the 145 items was reduced to a size that sometimes does not exceed the thickness of a human hair. Some of the wheels of the mechanism have a thickness of 0.12 mm compared to conventional wheels with size of 0.20 mm. All components have been designed and manufactured to the nearest millimeter, thus ensuring smooth operation of the mechanism. Power reserve of Altiplano 900P watch is 48 hours, the oscillation frequency of the balance is 21,600 pc/h.
The main secret of creating such a slim design is the case itself, the reverse of which serves as a main board for the mechanism. Thus, case and mechanism has merged. This highly sophisticated design means that the mechanism had to be changed so as to attach the bridges on the dial side, while maintaining their aesthetic side and make them visible to the eye. To save a few precious millimeters, the whole mechanism and hand-fitted system is contained in the interior of the balance wheel, thereby mapping functions of hours and minutes on the shifted from the center dial, creating a perfect harmony with all the design features of the dial.
Caliber 900P
When the watch is subjected to high pressure, for example, by immersion in water, the dial glass can deform. Chance of glass deformation in ultrathin watches increases at times. To solve this problem, the master of Piaget developed a new device (patent pending), which has become a major breakthrough in the area of reliability in this category watches. Instead of installing hands above the bridges, the masters put them under them, thereby freeing up space between the drive pinion and the crystal. When the latter is subjected to deformation by pressure, the crystal is not pressing on the hands but on the wheels and axles, thus avoiding any influence on the watch operation.
Despite the fact that some parts of 145 in Altiplano 38 mm 900P watch are hidden from the eye, but they are carefully manufactured in the finest watchmaking tradition. The watch case with 38 mm in diameter is made of pink gold. Altiplano 38 mm 900P watch comes with a leather strap.
