Piaget presents a new ultra-slim skeleton Altiplano

The watch brand Piaget has a particular propensity for ultra-slim mechanisms. The novelty of the company Altiplano, released this fall, is a skeletonised wristwatch with an ultra-thin mechanism.
"I fully understand why the other watch companies are not engaged in production of ultra-slim watches" - Piaget CEO Phillip Leopold Metzger confessed during the presentation of Altiplano. With his remark Leopold Metzger paid tribute to the masters of watch making who were engaged in the process of skeletonising the mechanism Altiplano. Skilled craftsmen have created the impossible: they decorated elegant pattern the thin and fragile caliber 1200S in the thickness of 2.4 mm. Standard skeletonised dials open to eyes only the vital parts of the mechanism. But the new dial allows you to contemplate the fine details ofa luxury caliber, which has its own decor and inner beauty.
"Such a task is subject to only a few famous masters of the world - said Philippe Leopold Metzger, thus confirming the presence of a talented master in the stuff of Piaget. - Keep in mind that we are not affiliated with other companies. We do everything ourselves. "
The round classic case of the novelty is made of 18 carat gold. The ultra-thin case in diameter of 38 mm has the thickness of only 5.34 mm. The case back of the model and the front side are protected by a durable sapphire crystal.
The manufacturing automatic caliber 1200S with the thickness of 2.4 mm is fully hand-made skeletonised, polished to a satin surface. The beveled bridges in the mechanism are made of platinum. The blackened rotor of the mechanism weighs only 2 grams, and the thickness of the wheels is only 0.12 mm.
The time indexing is carried out by the central hour and minute hands, made in the style of Dauphine. The black hand coating contrasts sharply with the light shade of the mechanism and provides dial’s maximum readability.
The novelty’s strap is made of black alligator leather and features a buckle in white gold.
The available price of the new Altiplano is 50 000 Swiss francs.
