BaselWorld 2012: Weightless Grace by Corum - Admiral's Cup Legend 42 Tourbillon Micro-Rotor Watch
Tourbillon is considered one of the most prestigious complications of the watchmaking world. The company Corum has presented at the annual international exhibition BaselWorld 2012 an achievement of engineering embodied in the Admiral's Cup Legend 42 Tourbillon Micro-Rotor watch. This masterpiece of watchmaking art combines a vigorous aesthetics, elegance and intricate mechanics that cannot remain indifferent to any connoisseur of high-end watches.
The Swiss watch Admiral's Cup Legend 42 Tourbillon Micro-Rotor is the embodiment of the harmonious union of the external design’s poetics and the power of the mechanical basis: a new chapter in the history of the famous collection, counting more than 50 years.
Introducing the tourbillon function into a series of watches Legend, the company raised not only the status of the watch, but positioned it as a classic. So, the Admiral's Cup Legend 42 Tourbillon Micro-Rotor watch with its smooth contours and a clear silhouette, distinctive 12-sided bezel and 12 naval flags - a tribute to its legendary predecessor - the original watch Admiral's Cup, which already more than half a century stands for an unsurpassed standard.
However, in addition to its noble "origin" the Admiral's Cup Legend 42 Tourbillon Micro-Rotor watch can be noted as a chronometer with an exceptionally lightweight design, combined with impeccable accuracy of technical perfection. Indeed, this is an attractive watch that will fill with new content the concept of "purity", "harmony" and "balance" in the watch specifications.
The watch is available in three versions:
• Model of red gold 750
• Two-toned version: bezel of red gold 750 and steel case
• Model of steel
The diameter of the Admiral's Cup Legend 42 Tourbillon Micro-Rotor watch is 42 mm.
The dial of the model is clear and well-defined. The layout is designed as 12 nautical flags on the 12-faceted bezel, which is a clear indication of belonging to the family of Admiral's Cup collection. The outer rim is decorated with a spiral pattern, and on it there are 11 labels, replacing the standard figures - with a gold-coated in a model of red gold, and rhodium in the other two versions.
The center of the dial is decorated with "barleycorn" ornament, applied brand’s logo and the inscription of Admiral's Cup, which is printed on the dial in a particular method of thermo application - the finishing touch to the confident aesthetics of the watch.
Hour and minute hands - faceted and delicate, perfectly placed in the general style of the model.
The spirited design is complemented by a brown leather strap: the version of the gold with a spin buckle, and the rest – with a folding clasp.
The watch operates on the basis of the manufactory caliber CO503 with a tourbillon. The unique self-winding mechanism has a balance frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and the power reserve of 60 hours.
The aperture at the 6 o’clock position of "6" allows you to evaluate the filigree structure of 12 mm tourbillon carriage. In addition, you will appreciate the delicate securely mounted bridge of the tourbillon: in a model of red gold - polished and plated, in a model of the steel – polished with rhodium-plated.
However, on the reverse side of the case you will find at least a fascinating spectacle. The back side with a sapphire glass allows evaluating the exquisitely contrasting pattern of Côtes de Genève with gold-plated 17-mm microrotor, decorated with emblematic image of the Corum key. As befits an original watch in its class, the model will be produced in a limited edition, so to buy a watch is not easy.
As noted by the company’s representatives the annual release of Admiral's Cup Legend 42 Tourbillon Micro-Rotor watch version will be issued in 15 instances, the model from red gold and steel - 30 instances, the model from steel – 75 instances.
