Blancpain at World Ocean Summit 2014
Blancpain company renewed its support for the World Summit on the World Ocean Summit), held in San Francisco on February 24-26, 2014.
More than 60 years ago, the company Blancpain launched Fifty Fathoms model and that since then the company is making its contribution to the backbreaking variety of ocean research. Swiss watch brand supports basic scientific expeditions and underwater photography in order to improve the knowledge and problem-solving related to oceans.
Chaired by John Micklethwait, chief editor of the English-language weekly news magazine The Economist, this international high-level conference was also attended by His Royal Highness Prince Charles of Wales, Prince of Monaco Albert II, President of Portugal, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, a former minister U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, former President of Costa Rica and the Co-Chairman of Global Ocean Commission Jose Maria Figueres, as well as numerous world leaders from politics, business, international organizations, analytic and scientific field.

Management and sustainability were the main topics of the summit World Ocean Summit in 2014 and the three-day conference will provide delegates with the opportunity to continue the dialogue, which was first launched at the summit back in 2012.
During the gala dinner, a vice president and chief of marketing department of the company Blancpain Alain Delamuraz reminded participants about the rich history of Blancpaihn as a manufacturer of diving watches, as well as the inventor of modern diving watches. Speaking directly to the Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow and staff researcher of National Geographic Professor Enric Sala, Delamuraz noted that the company Blancpain has long worked with the National Geographic Society.
“Even if you worry about the present state of the oceans we should celebrate the efforts and accomplishments of many in this room who have made great strides to improve the health of the ocean,” he added. “Our passion is motivated by optimism!”
