The Swiss watch company Breguet was founded in 1775 in Paris. The founder Abraham-Louis Breguet was born in 1747 in Neuchâtel in Switzerland. When he was a child he moved to Paris with his stepfather, where he got a job in a Parisian watchmaker’s workshop. In 1801 he received a patent for his invention of the tourbillion – a unique mechanism compensating the effect of gravity on the accuracy of the wristwatch.
In the same year Breguet began gradually to develop new markets, including Russia. As a result, in 1808 in St.Petersburg the “Breguet Russian House” was opened. Among those who gave his preferences to watches of this brand were the famous personalities of that time: the queen Marie Antoinette, Napoleon Bonaparte, Emperor of Russia Alexander I, Empress Alexandra, Queen Victoria, Sir Winston Churchill and many others, who left their mark in worldwide history.
A lot of merit in the watchmaking sphere of the company Breguet was recognized throughout the world. A.L.Breguet was elected as a member of the Royal Academy of Sciences, and later he became a knight of the Legion of Fame and member of the French Bureau of Measurements (Chamber of Weights and Measures). In 1999 the company Swatch Group bought the Breguet, but still strictly adheres to tradition as one of oldest watch companies of the world. In addition to watches, the Breguet Company also produces jewelry, pens, cufflinks, etc.
Nowadays the watches Breguet are a large variety of models, which produced in small batches. Each caliber has its own personal number. All watches of the famous brand come out in five lines - Classique, Tradition, Marine, Heritage and the Type XX, as well as a special line of women's watches Reine de Naples.
Breguet Classique is a perfect example of the line’s precision, clarity and elegance, which includes the thin flat watches with manual or automatic winding, perpetual calendar, tourbillion and chronograph. Top Breguet chronographs belong to the classical collection.
The company pays much attention to the women’s wristwatches, although we can’t say that they are the leader in this. The models of Breguet Reine de Naples are available in yellow or white gold, diamonds and sapphire cabochon on the crown with automatic winding, an indicator of the moon phase and power reserve.
In 1810 under King Louis XV the watch company Breguet became the official supplier of the French Royal Navy, and as a result the model Breguet Marine – the extremely accurate chronometer - was produced. Today the collection of Marine is one of the most famous in the world. The new line collections Marine have waterproof case to 300 meters, 45 mm in diameter, rubber strap, in a pink or white gold. In 2009, there was the novelty Breguet Marine Royale equipped with an alarm clock, water resistance to 300 meters, a case diameter of 45 mm.
Automatic Chronograph Breguet Heritage Chronograph was introduced in 1999. The curved barrel-shaped watch case is made of 18-karat yellow gold.
The callback function allows you to reset the chronograph with the start of a new frame with a single button. The company carried out the mass production of Breguet chronographs with a return function from 1950, when they were called Breguet Type XX. The automatic Chronograph Type XX Aeronavale appeared in the early 1990s, was a bright child of Type XX. In 1998 the company introduced a new modification of the chronograph Type XX - Transatlantique. The additional indicator of data is in the new window of the timepieces. Now the collection of company consists of a steel, titanium and gold model on a leather strap or bracelet.
