Let's talk about the case material. Silicon is used in the manufacture of watches since 2000. This material is used to improve the accuracy of the course. The company Roger Dubuis has always been the desire to push the boundaries of the possible, and to carry out what seems impossible. As a result of this desire, the world's first watch with a case made of silicon appears. Why the choice was on this stuff? It is due to its exceptional durability at a surprisingly low weight, because it is two times lighter than titanium and is four times stronger than steel. The mechanism of the stroke adjustment ensures the module of balance-spiral. This is the most important element of the mechanical models. That is why it is not surprising that designers are paying it much attention. It determines the rhythm of the timing and the accuracy of the watch. Today, not all watch companies produce parts for the caliber of their own, with regard to the production unit balance-spiral in the walls of manufacture - a rare phenomenon in the watch industry. An incomparable model Excalibur Quatuor – is one of the most striking innovations of the Geneva exhibition SIHH 2013. The watch combines designer’s courage and creativity of Roger Dubuis. The novelty is the result of constant striving for maximum accuracy. The impact of gravity leads to a deviation from the exact course of the watch, as because of the wrist’s movement, the watch is constantly changing its position in space. This problem can be solved using the tourbillon, however, the Roger Dubuis’s masters are proposed a new solution: four modules of the balance-spiral are located in a special way, which respond instantly to the watch error caused their displacement in space. Compensation of gravity in the model Excalibur Quatuor occurs instantaneously, while the classic tourbillon performs over a period of one minute.
Four balance of the models provide a frequency of 16 Hz. This frequency controls the basic mechanism, and not just one of its functions. Each of the four balances makes four vibrations per second; the total carrying frequency caliber is four times higher. This is known as a new standard of accuracy.
The gorgeous Excalibur Quatuor watch demonstrates a new displaying of the power reserve. Two curly scales in the form of the crescent rotate at the same speed as the wind-up barrels, i.e. 4 ½ turnover per day. The indicator hand also rotates, but slower. With the decrease of energy in winding springs, the speed of the hand is changed so that it is in line with the remaining reserves of energy.

Back in 2005, the company released a double "floating" tourbillon with differential. 7 years later, it presented the Excalibur Quatuor watch, which incorporated a number of technological advances. It is not only the presence of 4 modules of the balance-spiral and the power reserve indicator, but also on the use of 5-differential mechanisms, three of which involved the transfer of the balance through the wheel. The fourth differential is for the regulation of the power reserve, and the fifth provides an interaction of the winding shaft with two parallel inclined winding barrels.
