Novelty by Patek Philippe - Calatrava Rabbits Watch
Swiss watch brand Patek Philippe has introduced in 2012 a new masterpiece of fine watchmaking - a model Calatrava Rabbits, which dial is a unique instance of marquetry, made of wood.
Several decades of last century, the market in the Middle East came to the fore for the watch and jewelry industry, creating a stream of male models with inlays of precious stones. Currently, the demand dictates rapidly evolving Asian market, on which are much appreciated watches of Metier d'Art. The dials of these models are the basis for the exquisite miniature paintings, which are used in the creation of different techniques with the use of enamel, pearl, glazes, straw, stone or wood. These models are usually universal: they may be worn by both sexes.
Presented models from the Patek Philippe company have dials with a marquetry of straw and wood. The miniatures with rabbits are framed with a classic Calatrava case with built-in ultra-thin self-winding caliber 240.

Models Calatrava Rabbits are a special kind of marquetry. Ordinary marquetry - a puzzle with viewable seams and borders, but the master of Patek Philippe painted a picture that did not immediately realize that it is made of wood, and not painted with oil. Whiskers of the rabbits, plausible shapes of animals and their fur bristling are made from pieces of wood. The composition of the melting snow and autumn leaves are created from different varieties and shades of wood.
Each dial of the line is unique for a simple reason: it cannot be repeated. No need to mention the fact that the models produced in a single copy.
