A New DS1 Automatic by Certina

For 50 years, the initials DS on the watches of the Certina brand is considered a confirmation of their precision and trustworthiness. In 1959 the company has launched a Certina watch making the concept of Double Security, based on the integrated impact-resistant assemblies, a strong body, a thick sapphire crystal, together with a hermetic seal of the stem, a crown and a case back. The first watch model with double safety DS in 1960 went with a team of Swiss climbers to overcome the Himalayas and has successfully established the exceptional durability in the toughest conditions.
Despite some elements of modernity, introduced in the design of the new DS1, it is the successor of the brilliant technological innovation of its predecessor, which for decades has been a reliable companion for many international researchers.
The round case of the novelty, made in a classical style, has a diameter of 39 mm. Alternating matte and polished inserts of the stainless steel case are uniquely reflected light. The case on the top has a convex antiglare sapphire crystal, which serves also as a transparent case back. The crown at 3 o'clock position is decorated with the brand’s historical logo. The case provides the 100-meter water resistance.
The dial is issued in two versions: anthracite and silver. The center of the dial is guilloched with an elegant design. White or golden applied Roman numerals and hands are covered with fluorescent compound.
In the case of the novelty is built a Swiss automatic movement ETA 2824-2, which provides an indication of hours, minutes and seconds by means of the central hands. The date aperture is located between 4 and 5 hours.
DS1 Automatic is available on a brown leather strap with folding stainless steel clasp.
