Montblanc Watches

Montblanc Swiss watch company manufactured its watches in the town of Le Locle and in the town of Viller, that is situated at an altitude of 1,000 meter above the sea level in the   Jura Mountains. Montblanc company has always been famous for its writing instruments of a high quality. In recent years the company has expanded its colection of luxury goods, producing watches, sunglasses, jewelry, belts and writing instruments. Montblanc wrist watches are very popular among the connoisseurs and collectors. The foundation of Swiss watch company was laid in 1906, when Alfred Nehemias, the banker from Hamburg, and August Ebershtein, the engineer from Berlin, decided to produce fountain pens. Then the company passed into the ownership of Wilhelm Dzambora, Christian Lauza and Claus Johannes Voss. In 1909, a famous fountain pen was produced, at that time the pen set the standard for the ideal writing instrument, which was called «Montblanc». Montblanc is the name of the most majestic and high mountain. The name of the highest peak of Europe reflects the company's product quality and unique character of European handicraft traditions. In 1910, the trade name «Montblanc» was officially  registered,  the company's offices were opened in Paris and London. In 1913, the symbol performed in the form of a star with rounded outlines became Montblabc's company logo. In 1924 was released a collection of Montblanc pens named Meisterstuk, which still embodies the philosophy of the brand, that is preservation and multiplication of traditional skills. Montblanc company was gradually expanding, launching the production of leather goods: bags for pens, writing cases. In 1993, Danhill holding, the owner of a control packet of shares of Montblanc company, passed into the hands of Luxembourg group Vendome Luxury Group SA. So, Montblanc company joined a group of firms producing luxury items. Later, the group was given a new name «The Richemont Group» and became the world's largest group producing luxury goods. Such famous brands as Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Vacheron Constantin, Jaeger-LeCoultre and IWC are also the members of the Richemont Group. In 2006, the Richemont Group bought a small manufactory Fabrique d'Horlogerie Minerva, founded in 1858 in the town of Viller. The manufactory designed and created its own watch movements, later it passed to the hands of Montblanc company. This acquisition allowed Montblanc watch brand to enter the world of Haute Horlogerie. And Minerva watch company, one of the oldest companies in Switzerland, found its second wind. There the watch movements are processed and assembled by hand, only a virtual development and milling machines are computerized. The manufacture produces only about 250 watches per year. The watch company attracts the attention of connoisseurs of watchmaking thanks to Minerva's concept — every chronograph is developed by one watchmaker, so every watch with the Montblanc logo, created by the watchmakers from Viller, can be considered unique. At Montblanc company in Le Locle the manufactory calibers are also produced, but with the help of modern industrialized methods.

In 1997, Montblanc watch brand presented a unique hand-made watch Meisterstuck. After  the first participation of Montblanc watch brand in Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie in Geneva (SIHH) the company found the acceptance of many world's leading watch brands. The workshops of Montblanc Montres SA are located in the heart of Swiss watchmaking industry in Le Locle. This fact guarantees the highest quality of this company's wrist watches. In 2000, seven watches were added to Meisterstuck Sport collection, that combine modern design, reliability and functionality. In 2003 an innovative collection of TimeWalker watches was presented. In 2006, to commemorate the 100th anniversary,   Montblanc brand exposed the limited aditions of products, encrusted with a unique Montblanc diamont made in the company logo's shape. The cut of this diamond was patented by Montblanc company. At Geneva Salon SIHH 2008 Montblanc watch brand presented the first movement produced by the company, that was the caliber MB R100, named after Nicolas Rieussec  (Star Nicolas Rieussec watch). Rieussec was one of the prominent figures in the watchmaking, a creator of the first chronograph. Star Nicolas Rieussec wrist watch was the first watch with a movement, created specially for Mobtblanc brand in its own laboratory. This wrist watch is equipped with two calibers: manual wound MB R100 and automatic MBR200. Montblanc watch brand is successfully developing vintage watches, represented by Villeret 1858 collection. 258 items of watch movements were created for the anniversary collection Villete 1858, but only one of them will be housed in platinum case, 8 – in white gold case and 58 – in rose gold case. Thanks to this fact, the wrist watch, created at the manufactory of Minerva Montblanc in Wheeler, is considered to be the collector's item. Having created its own tourbillon (Grand Tourbillon Heures Mysterieuses wrist watch), the watchmakers of Minerva Montblanc watch company showed a high level of  professionalism. Grand Tourbillon Heures Mysteriuses watch was released in limited edition: 1 watch with a platinum case, 8 watches with rose gold cases, 8 watches with  white gold cases. If the client wants to purchase a unique wrist watch, the company creates custom-made models. Montblanc collections of men's and women's wrist watches consist either of modern sport watches or of classical ones.
