"Chesmenskaya chernilnitsa" – a unique set of letters for the era of Catherine II
The State Hermitage Museum and Montblanc have expressed their intention to cooperate in other areas related to the storage, restoration, study and presentation of the State Hermitage Museum of applied arts.
The cooperation of Montblanc and the Hermitage will begin with the restoration of one of the Hermitage exhibits - "Chesmenskaya chernilnitsa" - a unique set of letters for the era of Catherine II. Catherine II in Paris commissioned this inkstand with gilt bronze watch and painting on enamel in 1775 to a jeweler and enamellist Augustin Barnabée De Mailly (1723 - after 1793).
