“Each of us has his own time...” – W. Shakespeare.
“Buying a watch people hope to gain something own, become masters of their own time” – A. Silberstein.
Alain Silberstein trademark was founded by Silberstein family couple in 1987. The watch company has occupied strong positions in the world's watch market and has started competing with many industries, counting centuries of history, in a rather short period of time.
As the company's founder and creative designer, Alain Silberstein states, the secret of their success is innovation, quality and high level of service.
Alain Silberstein watches combine Swiss watchmaking traditions and non-traditional design. According to Alain Silbertein, watches give a great freedom for creativity and making another time measuring instrument, he “takes a rest with his soul and feels like a real artist”. Alain Silberstein's main sources of inspiration are the world's culture, great artists' works and nature.
It's widely known, that his creative work was greatly influenced by the Japanese and the Chinese cultures. Having taken a close look at the Chinese culture and studied the big Beijing museum ornaments collection with all possible traceries and costumes of different dynasties, Alain Silberstein produced a limited edition of 40 watch pieces in 200, in the year of dragon. The models' enamel dials had the pictures of a dragon with 5 claws. It is commonly known that a dragon in the Chinese mythology is the symbol of the Chinese nation and the kind Yang notion. A dragon is also associated with the water element. The Chinese hold the annual Dragon Boats Festival in its honour.
The usage of enamel dial in this model production is also reasonable: “The art of enamel is a fruit of East and West, it's the best thing for the year of dragon. It was brought from France to China along the Silk Road and later returned to Europe”.
In future Silberstein is planning to produce watch collections with every Chinese horoscope sign. “Working with the Chinese calendar is a way to show your respect fro the culture” – he says.
Alain Silberstein submitted the new model, inspired by Henry Matisse's “Harmony In Red” painting, for the demanding watchmaking art connoisseurs' approval at the BaselWorld 2011 watch and jewelery exhibition.
Matisse is a French artist and sculptor of the 20th century, the leader of the fauvist style. He can exactly be called “the expert of colour”. In the “Harmony In Red” painting the main accent is laid on emotions transfusion through colour and shape. For Matisse colour is a way of impression rather than a way of portrayal.
All colours, used by Matisse in the “Harmony In Red” creation, were transferred to the watch dials by Silberstein.
According to the creative designer, he wants to create new watch models, based on Joan Miro and Vasily Kandinsky's paintings.
Alain Silberstein finds new colours and materials, supporting creativity, fantasy and imagination development, in nature.
