Black Marine Smileday - a watch, setting the mood

Black Marine SmiledayThe watch industry is currently at the peak of its development. The watch market is filled with original time measuring instruments, equipped with all latest technical complications.
Watch producers make a special accent on their produce's design singularity, trying to create principally new models, stunning with their shapes' boldness and fancy styles mixtures. As Alain Silberstein, one of the most creative watch companies' founder and designer states, watchmaking is going through a real creative revolution nowadays. “Today people agree only for unique watches, made solely for them and not for anyone else. I'm constantly creating new watches in order to give the client what he wants. And today everyone wants to be given special attention” – Silbertein states.
His bright colourful designer watches with smileys and funny central hands occupied their firm positions in the world of serious watchmaking art and compete with classic models in gold cases.
In 2008 he created the “Black Marine Smileday” watch for extraordinary people. The model is assembled on the basis of the automatic ETA 2836-2 movement. The watch's case with the diameter of 45 mm is made of titanium. The model is supplied with a tri-dimensional indication system. The numeric indexes are covered with luminescent coating, providing easy indications reading even in the darkness. The date aperture is situated at the “6” position and the day of week is indicated by a smiley, changing its “facial expression” from sad to happy with the approaching of a weekend.
A combination of three colours – blue, yellow and red, was used in the watch execution. Silberstein creates timepieces with the most unexpected colourings. As the designer tells, he “has opened the doors to watch design for colour”.
“Many watch producers treat colour as oddity or disgrace. For me colour is not madness, not a revolution, not an experiment. Colour is an essential part of our life, our world perception. I don't like it, when designers start experimenting with colour combinations just to kick up a row and attract attention. For me colour is harmony and my watches suit to be worn every day”, – Silberstein states. The watch's dial resembles a panel with funny and bright applique work. If you look closely,  you'll be able to see starfishes at a specific angle.
