Novelties by Longines: Longines Heritage 1940 and Longines Heritage 1942

Founded in 1832 in Saint-Imier, the watchmaker Longines is celebrating in 2012 its 180th anniversary and in honor of the anniversary the brand has introduced two new models of Longines Heritage 1940 and Longines Heritage 1942, which actually are remade versions of the brand’s historic watches.
The model Longines Heritage 1940 has inherited from its predecessor a high bezel, which has become the hallmark of Longines timepieces of that period. Round steel case of the novelty with a diameter of 38.50 mm "housed" a unique manufactory automatic movement Calibre L615. The functions of the mechanism are the indication of hours, minutes, seconds and date. Paved with 27 jewels, the caliber with a 42-hour power reserve makes 28,800 vibrations per hour and for its ceaseless course it is possible to enjoy through the transparent sapphire glass of the caseback. Waterproof of the model is up to 30 meters.
White or black lacquered dial of the model is marked with Arabic numerals, and on the periphery is located the minute markings in the form of railroad tracks. Blued central hands of the model with a white dial are set off its whiteness, and the model with a black dial has rhodium-plated hands. Small second’s hand is put to the lateral dial at the 6 o'clock position, in which also set the date aperture.
The novelty Longines Heritage 1940 comes on a black crocodile leather strap. To buy a watch is available through the recommended price of manufacturer - in $1800.

Model Longines Heritage Model 1942 is a successor to the 1942 release with a round steel case in diameter of 40 mm. The model operates on the basis of the manufacturing movement Calibre L688 with the column wheel. The mechanism on 27 jewels provides a 54-hour power reserve and performs 28,800 vibrations per hour. Functions of movement: hour, minute, second, date and chronograph. The case is attracted the attention with round buttons of the chronograph, characteristic for the watches of that period.
The dial of the novelty is made in two versions: black and white, with minute markings and tachometer scale on the periphery and 9 Arabic numerals in the center. Central hands are blued or rhodium-plated depending on the color of the dial. The chronological functions are displayed on a 30-minute indication at 3 o'clock position and 12-hour indicator at 6 o'clock position, which is aligned with an aperture of date. Indicator small second hand is placed at the 9 o’clock position.
The novelty Longines Heritage 1942, waterproof to 30 meters, comes on a black crocodile strap. The recommended price of model is $ 2850.
