Angular Momentum will present his unique creations «Urushi» at Salon Belles Montres
The well-known independent watchmaker Angular Momentum will present its unique watch at Salon Belles Montres for the first time, which will be held from 25 to 27 November. The main feature of presented watches is unique lacquered dials made using the technique of "Urushi”. Urushi is a natural lacquer derived from wood Urush ("lacquer tree"). The lacquer tree produces a resin that contains a wood oil “urushiol”. This oil is subject to rapid polymerization, which result is a dense, smooth and shiny slick. The lacquer tree, which resin meets once a year in early summer, grows only in China, Japan and Korea. And the process of recycling takes 3 to 5 years. Urushi The technique Urushi has ancient roots, because it was used in Japan in the 7th century. But then it was used not for aesthetic purposes, but it was a way to protect household goods from outside influences. The lacquer is applied to the surface from 5 to 15 times in order to obtain the desired glossy surface. There is no reason to worry about separation, and folding, and in the solid consistency the lacquer becomes resistant to moisture, heat, alcohol, acids, alkali and solvents. In horology, this technique is used as decoration. On a watch dial with a brush applied 12 layers of paint of different consistencies with a brush. After that, the dial is placed on the day into a special container that keeps constant temperature of 27 ° C and a humidity of 68%. After these time-consuming procedures the surface of the dial is polished to a mirror finish. In conclusion, at the discretion of the master can be used in gold plating of different colors. As mentioned above, it will possible to see these unique creations at the Salon Belles Montres from November 25th to 27th.
