Urushi technique is on the dial of Angular Momentum new masterpiece

Swiss watch brand Angular Momentum has introduced a new wrist watch with a unique dial, created with the usage of the Japanese high art miniatures.
Applying the technique of "Urushi" on the dial three birds' feathers were displayed. In ancient times, birds were endowed by the supernatural force, which connects heaven and earth. In cultures of the Middle East and Asia, the bird represents immortality. In the mythology of the eastern Indians it was believed that each bird inhabits the soul of a deceased person, and in Christian art birds often symbolize the saved souls. And Egyptian goddess of justice Maat weighed in the balances of the newly deceased heart with a feather to determine the dignity of the soul.
In Christianity, the feather of a bird is a symbol of virtue. Three feathers, collected in the form of a ring on the seal, symbolize charity, hope and faith.
The new watch Three Feathers has a unique dial, on which three small bird feathers are made with the using of the Japanese technique of "Urushi." Urushi – a resin of the lacquer tree Urush. The resin of this tree is in contact with air becomes a very durable plastic and paint. This is sort of a natural plastic. The resin Urushi was collected once a year, and before it was processed into varnish, it should be kept from 3 to 5 years.
The process of making a base coating of varnish on the dial contains 12 layers of different consistencies.
