New Sarpaneva Korona K0 Wuoksi Watch: watches, shrouded in legend

Independent Finnish watchmaker Stepan Sarpaneva, who is the founder of Sarpaneva, has presented in the current 2012 a new watch model Korona K0 Wuoksi, the creation of which was inspired by the ancient legend about the village blacksmith, whose daughters were dragged off to the underwater mansion of the lustful gloomy creature Näkki. The daughters of the blacksmith as long remained a prisoner until he has created a wonderful machine, indicating the lunar phases. At high tide, when the monster weaker force, he dived into the depths and rescued his daughters. Moreover, the word Wuoksi acquired a double meaning: "strong surge" and "sake for love."

The new Korona K0 Wuoksi watch is based on models from the Korona K0 collection, where the moon phase indicator replaces the diving bezel. The splendor of the novelty lies in of its luxurious skeletonized dial with rotating disc of the evening sky, which shows the corporate face of the moon from Sarpaneva. It should be noted also that each model of the company is made by hand in their own workshop.
The novelty operates on a modified mechanism Soprod A10 self-winding, 11.5 lines, with a carrying frequency of 28,800 semi-oscillations. Collected by 25 jewels, the mechanism ensures a 42-hour power reserve. The caliber is covered with rhodium and perlage.
The model Sarpaneva Korona K0 Wuoksi lies in a case with diameter of 46 mm and a thickness of 11.2 mm, made of stainless steel. Waterproof to 300 meters, on the top the case is equipped with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal with the thickness of 2.5 mm. The crown is screwed into the case at the 4 o’clock position.

Coated with DLC or TiN, the stainless steel dial is graduated by hour markers with luminescent material Superluminova. Time is indexed by means of the central hands, also coated with a luminescent material and rhodium. The moon face on the moon phase’s indicator, located at position 12 hours, comes in several versions: copper, bronze, silver or gold.
The novelty is delivered on a strap, made of alligator or a frog skin, and the variant on a rubber strap.
