BaselWorld 2012: DeWitt has introduced a Twenty-8-Eight Skeleton Tourbillon Watch - a unique mechanic, opened to eyes
The watch company DeWitt has presented at the annual international exhibition a new wristwatch Twenty-8-Eight Skeleton Tourbillon, made on the basis of the manufacturing mechanisms, constructed entirely in the company's own workshop.
The presented model is the answer to the question how much can be complex, well-developed and skillfully executed original watches by DeWitt. Masters of the company did not verbosity of this, they has just introduced a skeletonized modification of the famous Twenty-8-Eight line, which is a telling evidence that DeWitt - not only a master of design, which is unique in its beauty, complexity, and luxury dials, but a master of creating unique mechanisms for its models.
The presented watch Twenty-8-Eight Skeleton Tourbillon, made on the basis of the manufacturing movement DW8028 – a classical, well proven in practice mechanism with manual winding and tourbillon. The mechanism is equipped with anchor escapement and spiral Straumann Hairspring ® with the Phillips curve, made of special durable alloy that is not susceptible to oxidation and the action of magnetic fields. In addition, the watch mechanism has a high ability of self- compensating at a frequency of 2.5 Hz balance. The homogeneity of the material and incredible precision-rolled coil - 0.0001 mm, guarantee a high precision of the mechanism and its reliability.
As noted by the company’s representatives, as a material for details (escapement wheel, anchor plugs and balance) yellow gold 750 is used.
They marked some of the features of the Twenty-8-Eight Skeleton Tourbillon watch: “This model is not designed to compete with the ultra fragile skeleton; the purpose of the founders is the maximum release of the construction from the material. In creating the skeletonized Twenty-8-Eight Skeleton Tourbillon the prerequisite and the main objective of DeWitt is to keep structural strength. And because of that we have a reliable mechanism for high-end, perfectly balanced with a distinctive design of the case, decorated with 48 imperial columns of DeWitt – the firm distinction of the entire brand’s watches."
A special attention are deserved other materials, except gold, which are used in the mechanism of the model. Thus, the delicate foundation of the mechanism is made of brushed nickel silver, plated with gold and black identities of the caliber, which are plotted in yellow gold. This clever interweaving of straight lines with curves and circles is the uniqueness of the three-dimensional and multi-level mechanism.
At the 9 o’clock position is placed the stylized monogram “W”, which is organically woven into the lace of the skeleton. The axis of the tourbillion is fixed with a long, thin bridge in the art deco style with a circular-grained. The winding barrel, placed at the 12 o’clock position is skeletonized, resembling in shape the design of the steering wheel of the past century’s cars.
As the spinning of the spring the wheel of the winding barrel is gradually changing its position relative to the lower rungs, which creates another visual "show" in the style of DeWitt.
As for the external design is that all of the above mechanical splendor is "clothed" in an elegant round case with a diameter of 43 mm from the precious rose gold 750 (in jewelry version - white gold).
The Twenty-8-Eight Skeleton Tourbillon watch operates on the basis of the manufacturing mechanical skeletonized caliber, fully developed by DeWitt, hand-finished on the base of 19 jewels. Number of items is 185. Functions: hours, minutes. Power reserve is 72 hours. The balance mechanism is with a variable moment of inertia, the frequency of balance is 18,000 vibrations per hour. Spiral is Straumann Hairspring with the Phillips curve, 2.5 Hz. Descent is with an elevation angle of 440.
The round case of the model in diameter of 43 mm and the total thickness of 10.78 mm is made of white or pink gold 750. On each side of the case is decorated with a pattern of imperial columns of DeWitt, 36 diamonds of "baguette"-cutting and 104 diamonds of Haute Joaillerie brilliant-cutting. The distance between the lugs is 21 mm. The case back is made of sapphire crystal. The hands of the models are made in the form of double-edged sword with a slot.
The watch strap is made of chocolate-brown or black matte alligator leather. The spin polished buckle is made of white or pink gold 750, in the tone of the watch case with an engraved monogram “W”.
The watch water resistance is 30 meters. To buy the watch will be available at the end of the exhibition through the official representatives of DeWitt.
