BaselWorld 2012: Gladiatore Collection by Zannetti
Italian company Zannetti at the world exhibition BaselWorld 2012 has introduced a new collection Gladiatore, consisting of five unique models.
Roman gladiators (from Lat. Gladiator means “Swordsman", from gladius – “sword", "gladius") are the names of soldiers in ancient Rome who fought among themselves or with the animals on the fun in different public arenas. Gladiatorial games have resulted from the fact that Rome conquered new lands and forced the prisoners to fight battles. Over time, the rite suffered a change: condemned to death are not killed at once, they were forced to fight with swords in their hands near the grave. In the result of these games have died weak and the strong survive, to the delight of the audience.
Well-known company Zannetti, which has always surprised the audience with its incomparable models and gorgeous jewelry, has returned to the gladiatorial games in a kind of way, calling the collection Gladiatore. The collection includes chronographs, characterized by its design property and functions. Fans of Zannetti will be able to buy a watch Gladiatore in steel and gold cases.
All the watches (Caesar Edition, Chronograph steel - 3 models, Chronograph red gold - 2 models) from the Gladiatore collection are presented in round cases with a diameter of 44 mm and a thickness of 14.5 or 14 mm.
The collection includes two models “Chronograph steel”, with cases made of stainless steel. These watches have silver dials, decorated with “Côtes de Genève” pattern. Indication of hours, minutes and seconds are carried out by three hands, located in the center of the dial. At the 12 o’clock position there is a small mother of pearl dial with 30 minute counter, while at the 6 o’clock position - the 12-hour counter. Time labels, made in the form of circles, as well as hour and minute hands are coated with luminous material. The small date aperture founds its place at the 3 o’clock position. The red second hand is in harmony with the red hands, located on the chronograph counters.
Two models “Chronograph red gold” from the Gladiatore collection are presented in the same design, but in the cases of 18-carat pink gold. The dials of these watches are made in a brown color, decorated with “Côtes de Genève” pattern and equipped with two counters: a 30-minute – at the 12 o’clock position, 12 - hour – at the 6 o’clock position. The small date aperture is located at the 3 o’clock position. Hour markers and two hands are covered with luminescent coating. For models with gold cases and the design of the red second hand red, which is in harmony with the hands of the counters, is saved.
The design of the third model Caesar Edition is significantly different. The case of this model is made of stainless steel; mother of pearl dial features three chronograph counters at the hour markers "12", "6" and "9". The date aperture is retained its traditional place at the 3 o’clock position, presented, however, in the round window. In the outer bezel of the model is written the Latin expression «Veni, vidi, vici» («I came, I saw, I conquered"), with which Julius Caesar advised his friend Amintsiy about the victory which was gained with Tsepe over Pharnaces.
All the chronographs from the Gladiatore collection are equipped with a sapphire crystal. The back side of the watch is closed with steel or gold caps attached to the case by 8 screws. On the case back is engraved with logo of brand Zannetti and serial numbers. The central part of the back side is closed by a sapphire window, through which you can enjoy the work of an automatic mechanism, assembled on the basis of the Swiss Valjoux 7750 caliber.
The watches from the Gladiatore collection are released in a limited edition.
