«Mystery watch» by Konstantin Chaykin at BaselWorld 2012!
At the annual exhibition BaselWorld, which was held from 8 to 15 March in the Swiss town Basel, an independent watchmaker Konstantin Chaykin, whose name is known all over the world due to his difficult and unusual watch creatures, introduced his new wrist watch Mystery with an interesting technical and design embodiment. The appearance of this watch matches to its name “mystery watch”. Konstantin Chaykin is one of the few Russian watchmakers, who managed to win recognition among the high art of watch making. The first prototype of his mystical watch Konstantin was created in 2009 which was stolen during the exhibition in Paris. However, this did not stop Konstantin: almost a year he worked on the re-creation of a prototype of his first "mystery - watch". As a result of hard work the watch movement and design has carefully been fine-tuned. Master failed to recreate his first "child", but with his hands he has created a perfect creation - the new watch Mystery, which has stood in one line with the most famous models of "mysterious watches."
The main mysterious feature of the wrist watch Mystery is its unique dial, through the off-centre aperture one can try and see a mystic whirl of time – and hardly anything else. This unusual embodiment is made with the use of unusual technical and design solutions that are based on the design of sapphire glass. The transparent sapphire discs create inner emptiness and full transparency of the dial, which, as if in zero gravity, soaring gold hands. Sure, it's a fascinating move of time. The secret of the 'hovering hands' is in the mode of their attachment. The minute hand is on one inner sapphire disk while the other bears the hour hand. Both hand disks are coupled to gears around the perimeter that drive the entire indiscernible movement. The mechanical mechanism KMR 02-0 with an oscillation frequency of balance 18,000 pc / h, consisting of hundreds hand-polished parts with 29 rubies, in its turn, is placed in a small area surrounding the transparent face. This mechanism provides a power reserve of 33 hours. As all watches of the independent watchmaker Konstantin Chaykin are equipped with such a complication as an indicator of the moon phases, the model Mystery is no exception. A tiny moon phase indicator at 3 hour marker let one see the moon waning and waxing right at the wrist.
Mystery watch is available in two versions: 38 mm diameter, which will suit a gentleman's wrist perfectly, and a more subtle 33 mm model for ladies. The watch case is made of pink gold. Water resistance is up to 30 meters. Mystery is more than a watch: it’s a collection of exceptional watches, each named after an outstanding magician of the world. Buy Mystery watch, perhaps, will not - simply because it is not the usual watch, it’s mystical!
