BaselWorld 2012 Closed its Doors

In March 16, after eight eventful days, the 40th International Salon of watches and jewelry BaselWorld 2012 closed its doors.
As in previous years, the exhibition was held in the halls of the giant Messe Basel exhibition center with a total area of over 160,000 square meters.
In the current year 1815 watch and jewelry manufacturers and subcontractors from the 40 countries has presented their new products and collections on the court of 104 300 visitors (+1% compared to 2011.) from over 100 countries around the world.
The exhibition was covered more than 3,300 media representatives (+9% compared with the previous year).
BaselWorld exhibition became a kind of "holy" place, which presents the latest achievements of the watch industry and the creation of luxury jewelry companies. BaselWorld - is a unique opportunity for manufacturers of watches, jewelry and related products to introduce with their latest achievements and novelties. BaselWorld - not a simple exhibition, but an exhibition - fair, because guests can purchase their favorite watch or product on the spot.
As noted by the exhibition organizers, exhibitors were pleased with sales.

Chairman of the Exhibitors’ Committee Jacques J. Duchêne after the exhibition said: "It was a fascinating week and truly a good year for us exhibitors. We are highly satisfied. Nearly all the brands will now be investing in their new stand for BASELWORLD 2013 and enhancing their presence still further. This highlights the fact that we have a great deal of confidence in this event, because the world show will be giving us exhibitors even more opportunities to experience positive development in future."
Chairman of the Swiss Exhibitors' Committee François Thiébaud, in his turn, said: "The 2012 edition has confirmed the success of this unique platform, which brings together the watch and jewelry industry from all over the world. The positive results of the past two years allow us to look into the future full of optimism: we are reckoning with an excellent start to the new BASELWORLD 2013."
It should be noted that in the 2013 the annual show will take place in a modernized BaselWorld exhibition center. According to the project, developed by the Basel architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron, the new pavilion complex will consist of three parts:
• The pavilion 1 will be expanded to an area of the exhibition; the parent body of the building will be replaced by a new building with three exhibition floors.
• The pavilion 3 will be replaced by new pavilion complex with the three exhibition floors and multipurpose hall on the first floor.
• Both of the new pavilion complexes will be interconnected two-story superstructure above the exhibition space. Due to this, under the roof there will a one-level open space with an inner courtyard, the so-called City Lounge.
In 2013, Salon of watches and jewelry BaselWorld 2012 will open its doors on April 25.
