GTE 2012: Kukulkan watch by 219 brand - the mystery of the Mayan calendar
The watch brand 219 - a relatively new phenomenon in the modern watch industry, however, has caught the attention of scholars and critics and fans of the original watches by a beautiful legend and a original wristwatch created on the base of the mysterious Mayan calendar. Thus, the brand started with a watch surrounded by a halo of gloomy romance of time countdown to the end of 2012.
The 219 company has showcased at the GTE 2012 the wristwatch model Kukulkan, decorated with emeralds. The watch is an amazing example of symbolizing one of the most mysterious legends of humanity - the time countdown of Mayan.
As the creators of Kukulkan noted, through their product, they tried to express the mystery of the prophecy of one of the most mysterious of human civilizations - Maya. Aesthetics of South American tribes’ pictographs, which is engraved by hand on the watch dial, plays a major role in the "apocalyptic" form of this model. As far as the technical performance, the Kukulkan watch is made in the best traditions of Swiss watchmaking.
The watch is a classic example of the Swiss standard: ETA A07.171 movement Valgranges. The watch case is made of white gold and for decoration of the bezel are used emeralds mined in Colombia and Brazil.
It is most clearly reflected the watch philosophy in the dial design. Instead of the time indexes the watch creators has depicted pictographs. The case back is decorated with engraved Mayan calendar and the strap of the watch is made of genuine alligator leather. The watch is released in a limited edition of 12 items.
