Ross McBrideNormal Timepieces is a young watchExtra Normal Grande EN-GM04 company founded in 2006 by the designer Ross McBride who wanted to be a famous all over the world designer thanks to creation of original wrist timepieces.
Ross was born in the USA in 1962. He earned the bachelor's degree in graphic design from the California Institute of Arts, and upon graduation in 1985, promptly moved to Tokyo where he has lived ever since. Upon arriving in Japan, Ross furthered his graphic design studies at Japan University. After he worked under the leadership of the Japanese designer Takenobu Igarashi who is a creator of the unique graphic style combining western and eastern styles and thoughts. Later Ross was interested in furniture design and in 1997 he presented his first works at the exhibition “12 Timepieces” at the Ozone gallery in Shinjuku, Tokyo. In January 2000, the studio of interior and furniture design  under the name “K.K. Normal” was founded.
Ross has presented his works at exhibitions of London, Milan, New-York and Tokyo where he won the Frame TDB Award 2003 for best installation design. He has worked on projects for Duende, E&Y, Max Ray, Starbucks Japan, Water Studio, Sharp, Sony and World Co. Ltd, and nowadays he is a member of the 100% Design Tokyo.
One of the young design's projects was wristwatches. The designer himself considers that a watch does not vividly show only taste of its owner but also can say everything about its owner himself. Today at the watch market you can find original models performed in various design finishing, decorated with precious stones and equipped with very different functions. And for Ross the main element is simplicity of design, for that reason all his models are of this style, the style which contains nothing of unnecessary things.
The company's watches are divided into the following lines: Extra Normal Grande and Extra Normal.
Extra Normal Grande includes original elegant models with round cases. The design is interesting: watches have no hour markings. Black or white dials have three hands. 38 mm diameter cases are made of stainless steel, straps – genuine leather. There are also some models with gilded steel cases and bracelets. All watches are water-resistant to 30 metres and equipped with Japanese movements Miyota 2034.
TM-L001 Time = MoneyExtra Normal consists ofTZ-L001 Time Zone models with 32 mm diameter cases made of stainless steel. Leather straps and net-shaped steel bracelets attach to models. All watches are water-resistant to 30 metres and equipped with Japanese movements Miyota 2034.
Among all company's collections you can find other original models. For example, the watch with an interesting name “Time=Money”. As the designer states, the word “time”  and “money” always remind of infinity. And the Time=Money watch reflects this idea. Its dial is a white empty room with one hand. On the right side there is the word “Money”, on the left side - “Time”. The 32 mm diameter round case is made of stainless steel. The black leather strap attaches to the model. The watch is water-resistant to 30 metres and equipped with Swiss-made movements Ronda Powertech 513S.
Another model named Time Zone with three time zones was designed especially for travellers. The 32 mm diameter round case is made of stainless steel. The hands show time in London, New-York and Tokyo. It should be noted that there is a change on summer time only for London and New-York. The black leather strap attaches to the model. The watch is water-resistant to 30 metres and equipped with Swiss-made movements Ronda Powertech 513S.
