The manufactory Minerva is one of the oldest situated in Switzerland, and today everything there looks like the same as 153 years ago. Everything started in 1858 when the brothers Charles-Yvan and Hyppolite Robert began making their own watches. It was more a workshop, and the brothers bought all components outside and then assembled usual wristwatches under their own brand called C. Robert. However, they equipped watches with a crown (a new thing of that time) that allowed to adjust indication of hands. Watches made by the brothers were so magnificent that soon they became famous outside the limits of Switzerland. The brothers received awards at the international exhibitions in Antwerpen (1885) and Paris (1889). For some time they are considered to be a watch manufactory and on July 30, 1887 it was given the name Minerva. Since 1902 it has been producing watches with in-house made movements and cases, and the cal.3  became the basis for Minerva watches for next years and is now used. On its basis the first mechanical stopwatch of frequency 360,000 vph was created in 1935.
